In any normal time, almost all the applicants they want would have found an alternative job long long ago! The length of time seems insane!Always overestimating...0

i would take it, apparently there are 600 agency staff having to leave before june, so loads of positions available. and my friend who works there said they are getting a payrise in feb0 -
Think of it this way, its very rare these posts come up... think of how long we have been waiting for ourselves. They are very much sought after jobs and in my opinion, its a job for life... people are working there 10,20,30+ years. Plus all the perks and salary (its a gd bit better paid than the civil service equivalent!!!) It's definitely a job to get into!
Just my thoughts.... :-) Of course everyones in different scenarios... If you are undecided and kinda swaying away from the idea, just because 'it took alittle longer than you thought' and maybe the idea had worn off, well then it's up to you.
But...Im grabbing it with both hands!!! :-D0 -
Here's a Freedom of Information request about the competitions (inc. why they took so long to place)

I worry that it's so well paid because of the security element...does anyone else worry about this or do i just need to wind my neck in?:p0

Ive heard people saying about the job for life too Miss Gee.0

The only perks i'm aware of are flexible working hours. As for the pay rise, that is just to bring them into line with eqivilent roles in the mainland. The pay is not particularly good. They are trying to get officers away from desk jobs and back into front-line policing, and so are paying civilians a pittance for doing work previously assigned to police officers. There is no such thing nowadays as a 'job for life', but it does seem more secure than others.0

i had previously got a letter to say i was unsuccessful, but have just had a call to ask if i would be still be interested. so have to redo the security questionnaire, medical and do a substance test. she should something about it all has to be done and recruited by end of march, so fingers crossed!!
argh, i shouldn't get myself so excited about these things!0 -
