Hi
Just wondered if anyone went for the admin support assistant/officer positions for the PSNI at the end of last yr? I passed both and Grafton called Fri to say they were passing my details over to the PSNI, I just had to give one more bit of info.
Does anyone know how much longer it will take from here or has anyone been offered anything yet?
Any advice much appreciated.

No doubt all successful candidates will have to undergo security clearance before being offered jobs. That can take at least two months.0

I did the tests and passed both too. I left in medical forms and security forms to grafton just before christmas. They said it would be up to 12 weeks till the details are passed to PSNI for a merit pool so I wasn't expecting to hear anything till march.0

Congrats Betty well done you:T
If you could leave an address on here we can send you all our dodgy speeding tickets and you can ;)sort them out for us;):rotfl:
Security clearance has been speeded up recently, I got my Access NI within a week through the Health Service;) and thats a complete history and security check in relation to Children's Services, so it shouldn't take long for yours.
Fingers crossed you get some good news soon:beer:I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
Congratulations but dont hold your breath. It all depends on who you work for and yes PSNI could take quite some time.
I worked for Social Security Agency and moved to Home Office and it took months.0 -
I did these too - Grafton told me that I had passed and took back the medical form and the security clearance forms. They also gave me a note saying that there was no guarantee of a job just because my details were being passed to the PSNI. This was all before Christmas.
Does anybody have any ideas on how this merit pool works? Are there interviews with the PSNI to help them make the final selection?0 -
I to did as others have mentioned above, all forms left in before xmas, grafton sent this off in the first week of Jan and the decision can take up to 12 weeks from that date.
From what I know about the merit pool is in relation to the 50-50 split - 50% of the people working there have to be from the roman catholic community, the other 50% protestant and every other religion in the country at the minute. This is my understanding, I could be wrong.
Snowyowl, interviews will not take place for either position.:j Norn Iron Club Member No. 343 :j0 -
I don't think much of so-called positive discrimination - it stinks!
That's interesting that there are no interviews. I might actually get a job after all as I tend to talk a big load of sh*t when I'm nervous therefore fail interviews a lot:o0 -
Hey, thanks for all the replies
I'm just getting really impatient waiting, last job ended in Jan and really want to get working again!
SnowyOwl - I agree re: positive discrimination! So frustrating  for 50% of the non RC sections!
Good luck to everyone else waiting, maybe we could bump this post up and reply here if/when we hear anything more?0 -
Totally agree!
The 50-50 was only supposed to be for another year, but if the sdlp get their way, its will be another 15:_

I went in for these as well, it's been so long i'd nearly forgotten about it. I heard there was 600 posts for these positions! But I was also told that security clearing is taking longer than usual because they are so busy, maybe too many people involved in espionage!
Once you get to the merit pool you are on it for a year. There is two sections, Protestant and others and RC. You are put onto the list in rank order of how you did in the test. If there are 600 posts, then the top 300 from each list will be offered a position. Apparently it all moves rather swiftly once you are in the merit pool. The 50:50 is a joke though, if there are 600 posts and only 50 RC's passed they can only offer employment to 50 from each list because they aren't allowed to offer any more. If that did happen they'd advertise again, test again and the process would take forever. I know it won't happen, but it is a deeply flawed principle.0
