They took 4-5 snips with scissors from my under layers (my hair is long and thick anyway tho, so dont notice it). If you aren't happy with where he/she goes to snip, just say - Im sure they wont mind. They were very nice with me.

Do you know if your security has cleared? From 2009? If so, then you could be placed quite soon (depending on your substance misuse test / medical results obviously!)

Im security cleared, drugs test complete, medical complete - ready to rock and roll...

Anyone else been called for medical?was called last time then they called off the whole thing. No word this time but have already completed the drugs test and sent away securtiy clearance forms. Really want this to work out, trying not to get too excited but its hard when you've made it this far!

i've just had my susbtance test today, wasn't too bad, able to mostly hide it. didn't realise you'd be called for a medical as well...

i must have already passed the security clearance, cause although i had to fill it in again, my appointment for the substance test was posted out the day after it had been received. think it was more just a case of having a completed form again.

ETA: yeah, my substance test was in belfast. i don't drive yet, so if a couple of us get jobs i'll be pm'ing looking for someone to car pool with, haha

Not everyone is invited for an appointment with the Occupational Heath and Welfare (OHW), it just depends what you write on your health questionnaires.

With regards to the security, only a couple of batches of forms (top candidates of NRC/RC - dunno exactly how many) were sent away to be processed in 2009. If you have received a new form to complete, it will be because you weren't security cleared the 1st time round (due to merit placing etc) and they need a recent form to process. Also those who were processed and their situation has changed may have had to complete a new form, but they would have told you on the phone if you fell into that scenario.

Oh, and everyone (within reason, decent merit numbers) was called for substance misuse (security cleared or not).

Not sure exactly how long vetting will take. Can't remember if it was CTC (counter-terrorism) or not. If it is CTC, it can take up to 16 weeks approx ??? I personally think they are cutting it fine with the 27th March deadline! Fingers crossed tho!

oh, i'll probably not have to go for a medical then, i'm fit as a fiddle, apart from seasonal hayfever!

Also called for substance test last week, have heard it came back clear and everything in order, but they are waiting on my security clearance to come back ? ? I get the impression they are allocating as they get required clearance, hardly fair if there is a pool of people and ranking list, that if someone below you ha their details returned first they would get chosen first ? - i assume they are offering positions from today, as they mentioned a start date of the 27th march, so i am sure some people would require to give a weeks notice. ?
weirdest thing is they mentioned security clearance can be different for everyone because you may have previous addresses etc, but i have lived at same address for years and years and I know all is correct, very frustrating waiting.....

How did you find out your test was ok? Did you contact them or did they call you?

I had my test 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything bar a letter telling me to go for a medical on Monday.

When did you get your medical letter? I suspect I will be called since I was called before, and am hoping they give reasonable notice so I can book the time off. I would also like to know the substance test was ok. There is absolutely no reason why it wouldn't be, but as silly as it is, there is always a doubt whenever you wait for these things! Really hope we hear something soon, especially if we have to be in post by the end of March and people will have notice to give and other arrangements to make.

I got the letter last Mon - so a week's notice - thankfully I was able to get a half day from work.

I know what you mean WooWoo, I know my substance will be clear but I'd just like to know. I hate all this waiting in limbo! I'm supposed to give a months notice at work so they better hurry up if they're gonna offer anything :mad:
