I think I've been a victim of this. I know I was between 15-25 on the merit list. I had the drugs test 14.02.2011, handed in my medical form then had to go for a medical today at Seapark. Passed it ok, so I emailed external appointments to see what happened next, who told me that all posts have been allocated due to them having to appoint as they became available - I take it this means security/medically cleared.

They said if any further appts came up they would be appointed on the 50:50 basis. I thought they said this was the end of 50:50 and if you didn't get in now you were off the list?

I'm feeling really confused and :mad: as I feel if I'm not gonna be offered something they've wasted my time. I know getting the drugs test was no guarantee, but to make you go all the way to Seapark, wasting a half day from work?!

It's not my fault I had to get a medical and wait 2 weeks for a date, why should someone who was lower down the list get a job before me just cos they didn't need a medical?! Seems a bit discriminatory.

Then on the other hand, I wonder if this is just official blurb and there are still appointments to be made - I know the public sector has to be very cloak and dagger until everything is signed and sealed - and they won't get my results til tonight or tomorrow.

I know I shouldn't complain - I am luckily already in a full time, permanent job & I am genuinely pleased for all who got in so far, especially RedRick82 who has been out of work for a while.

Ah well, rant over :eek: As the saying goes, if it's for you it won't pass you by ;)

I have a pre existing health condition which always gets me in for a medical! I'm sure you won't need one if you're fit as a butchers' dog

The girl on the phone said the paperwork would be sent out once they'd arranged a venue for the induction, apparently we'll all be having it on the same date x
