OS Daily Thread - Friday 5th February 2010

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 5th February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS lovelies wave.gif

I have a hospital appt today so have a long day ahead of me. We are also hoping to call in and see a friend nr Castle Cary on the way back that I haven't seen for a while.
Just talking to my friend in America and Tristan had an operation yesterday to heal a small hole in his lung where a broken rib had 'poked' it, and it was very successful which is good news. Michelle has head and spine injuries so her progress is very slow but it IS progress so we are hopeful.
Breakfast will be porridge as it's nice and filling. Lunch will be a packed lunch on the go, so BLT sandwiches, crisps, cherry toms and some left over lemon mousse I made yesterday. (decanted into lock n lock containers!). Plus fruit to eat while we are travelling. Dinner will be at my friends house if we get there or a quick pasta and sauce if we are home. Must load the WM in a min and remember to take the bread out of the BM at 0600 when it pings ready to make the sandwiches!
I hope everyone's day is as good as it can be for them, and that anyone feeling poorly feels better soon. With love, light and HShuggies.gif for all.

    Hi everyone.

MSD - glad Tris's op was successful but what a lot he is going through. Good luck to him and Michelle.

Well, I haven't been on here much lately - busy packing for the UK because we leave tomorrow! Only one more sleepless night to go! The car is going to be packed to the roof what with all the Christmas pressies, some pressies for recent family birthdays, and the cat who will be offloaded to stay with my friend on the way. DH doesn't yet realise just how much I am expecting to take with us!

We had unexpected visitors yesterday so I lost a few hours of packing time which I hope to make up today. I have some last minute shopping to do, some more central heating oil being delivered because DH is panicking that it will run out while we're away and that we'll come back to frozen pipes if we get another cold spell, as well as the normal chores to do. Meals are being kept to no-brainers - porridge for breakfast, the rest of yesterday's sweet potato, red pepper, bacon, and garlic soup for lunch, the rest of Wednesday's lamb hotpot for dinner, with the last of the fresh fruit as a fruit salad for pudding. I just love using up the leftovers - today will be a cheap day for food!

Aussie Lass - I hope your trip is going well and that you enjoyed Paris!

I'll try and pop in before we leave tomorrow morning.

I hope you all have a great day today.

    Happy Birthday Churchie
Sorry to hear about your work problems Purple Ivy.
Glad you've had some good news about Tris, Diva.
TFI Friday, another day in the asylum called work, no doubt I'll either spend hours filling in paperwork or I'll be told the incident isn't important, we will see.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Last day at work then 4 days off. nothing much planned tonight, may go to Eden project as I can go free...Kids can go Ice skating or something.

Seems like 42p for oil was good seeing as today it's 45. Oil prices are just far too fickle.

    Have a good day.... cheers

    :j:beer:Happy Birthday Churchmouse:beer::jhave a lovely day.

Glad there is good news MSD

Congrats on the job and course Sunnygirl

Wet and miserable here again, have got our client meeting today which could prove very interesting. We will find out if they expect us to lose more money to increase their profits. At least the other contractors will be there and they feel the same as us. Not looking forward to it at all.

House is clean, probably will be out most of the day so not too much OS today.

DD is at a sleepover tonight :jand DS has a friend here to sleep so will probably be something easy with chips for dinner.

Gotta get on now, have a good day.x
  • Morning, all.

Just a 'flying' visit this morning as I'm at Heathrow about to get on a flight to New York for a few days' work.

Shall see you all in a few days (or maybe late tonight if I can get online).

Might go for a bike ride around Central Park and also have a friend doing a "set" at The Broadway Comedy Club (http://www.broadwaycomedyclub.com/) tonight so will stop by and see him. Should be fun.

Looks like they're expecting snow though, so hope things don't get too disrupted.

    Ciao, all x

    Good morning

Churchmouse HSthbdayparty-1.gifHope you have a good day.

Lowsey Still thinking about you & DH xx

Hester Hope the day's better for you. You do so well working there.

Lamewolf Glad you're ok I was thinking about you just before you posted yesterday.

Diva Glad that Tris & Michelle are improving, even if it's slow.

N9eav :T on the oil prices they are fickle that's for sure!

It doesn't feel as cold here thankfully & there's no frost. It does seem to have been a long winter this year. Plans for today are to deep clean the bathroom and dust & vac downstairs ready for the weekend.

Spending some time with SIL tomorrow she's coming here as she likes the noise and atmosphere. Her place is quiet with just her & our nephew. I'd swap for a few days if she likes :rotfl: The kids are getting me down at the moment arguing between themselves over the most insignificant things :( All normal stuff, I know, but it gets wearing sometimes. I am planning on a day out somewhere next week to have a break.

Breakfast today is boiled eggs & toast, lunch is leftover pasta bake with salad and tea is meatballs & spaghetti. I will also get the gammon for Sunday out of the freezer so that I can cook it tomorrow then leave it to go cold in the pan and skim the fat off.

Have a good day everyone xxx

Edited to add: Captainhaggis Do you have room for a suitcase carrier? :) Hope the trip goes well & enjoy Central Park.

    Morning all,

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to churchmouse, have a great day xx

Off to work again today, but at least it is friday :T, can have a bit of a lay in tomorrow, dd is off for a sleepover tonight and then off to town for the day, so a quiet night here.

Dinner tonight will be prawn and avacado salad with some bread and butter, yum, its not something we have often, as dd would not eat the prawns and is not keen on salad, so its a bit of a treat for us.

Started to get a few bits for dd going to spain, I have got all tiny size wash stuff, shampoo etc, and a new wash bag, just need to order her some euros now, which i will do today I think.

Did the usual wash last night, which is on the airer, will have OH filthy work stuff to do tonight. Sainsbugs delivered last night and the driver fell in love with little dog and wanted to take her home, she is such a flirt and straight away rolled over for tummy tickles :D

Aplaceinthesun, we are in west sussex, where are you ?? nice to see another local poster, there are a few of us lurking

Molly how rude of that woman , she obviously felt bad cos she came back 4 times, push the complaint, what a cow

    Have good days all xx

    Kathy safe trip home xx

    Morning.

Churchmouse - birthday.gif Hope you have a wonderful day.

mioliere - have a safe journey and enjoy seeing the family again x

Sunnygirl - hugs to you. My two squabble and their only young so dread to think what they will be like when they are older eek!

Captainhaggis - safe flight and lucky you going to New York. Have a good time :D

Hester - have fun at the assylum today ;)

Diva - glad Tris and Michelle are making progress.

jackieglasgow - I too was wondering about FairyElephant - hope she's OK.

Well not much OS going on today as mindee is with me all day. Rang for blood test results and it looks like I am anaemic :( No wonder I feel so bloomin' tired all the time, sleepless nights and low iron - not a good combination. Feel like I have a cold coming too - one gland in my neck is really hurting when I swallow. H is sniffly too - perhaps a sign we are run down probably. Must dose up on some extra veg etc.
There are a couple of loads to go through the WM and I STILL haven't started the ironing from last week - going to talk forever with what I am washing this week.
*sigh* perhaps next week I'll feel more on top of things.

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

  • Morning everybody. I've been ill for a few days so I have no idea what's being happening with you all! I'll try and catch up later today. Being ill has been quite money saving as I've not eaten all that much (unless you count that large bag of popcorn...), so we've still got some meals from this weeks meal plan in the freezer. Which means not to much shopping to do, hopefully. The only think is, we seem to have run out of lots of condiment type things all at once, like ketchup and lemon juice. Most irritating. Oh, and Puppy-Dog is nearly out of food. Best get him some more sharpish!
Happy Friday everybody - hugs to all who need them.
