Afternoon all,
Leggings....what are you youngsters on about, they were necessary clothing for EVERYBODY since Christmas.....mine have been worn with heavy tights and trousers most of the time, but occasionally with just a long top...they are very comfortable and I wouldn't be bothered about age....IMHO much more acceptable than ladies of my age having their *its hanging out all over the place!
Anguk...wonderful news about Martyn...
Slow roast lamb shoulder for dinner to-day...we just get tiny shoulders for about €6 which has plenty of meat for two but not many leftovers...love it though.
Jackie...great to see how much your DDs appreciate their wonderful Mum.
Anniestar....cathain go bhfuil tu ag teacht?? An bhfuil Mark ag teacht leat?
Not to appear rude I just asked Anniestar when she is coming and if Mark is coming with her....Annie....please give me enough notice to swill out the pigsty! Lots of Irish here though as OH was 12 when he learnt English, so pick your time...
Hung out some towels to dry to-day, not sure when it will happen, but can't bear the thought of any more airer dried towels...all the rest is festooned around the house.
Out for lunch to-morrow as we are taking DD3 out to celebrate her 30th...seems like only 5 minutes ago she was born, so I know how you feel rosy, DGD1 was 5 yesterday and DGD2 will be 5 on Sunday so this is an expensive week....the DGDs will all be here at halfterm so we will have their party then, when DGD3 will be 2. DD3 is off to LA in March with my brother to see his son so am giving her money, which is not my usual habit but I think the 10 days in LA may be more expensive than she reckons.
Need to book my car in for its MOT today, keep forgetting about it and allegedly if not done owner gets points on their license...don't want that.
Welcome to newbies, you will like it here...apart from a few mad old bats its a lovely place to be.
Taplady....do you mind if I join you on your trip to Triftlady....maybe best if we just turn up, she'd never turn us away!
Hugs to all in need or want

Well my big news is that I have applied for a job & been accepted onto a course too :T The job is part time receptionist with Ring & Ride booking peoples calls etc. I'd love it as it's just up the road and only 16 hours. If I don't get that I can start on an 8 week course designed to help women returners on 22 February. They'll help me do cv's etc etc so hopefully I shall return to the world of work (and more money
) in the next few months :T
Pasta sauce is made for tea so I've only got to put it together later on.
Back to my crochet now

Nice to see anniestar back.
Sunnygirl
Good luck with the job.
Molly
That is awful - hope you feel better soon.
I had planned to go to the weekly market today but DH pointed out the damp foggy weather would not do my chest any good and my eye is still bright red with conjunctivitis. Eventually decided he was right (DH nearly collapsed in shock
). Decided to have a quiet day at home and stay warm.
Made a casserole in the slow cooker with turnip, carrots, onions and lamb chops with some mashed potatoes for lunch and tea. Also used some defrosted chicken breasts, spread pesto on top and wrapped them in bacon before baking for anyone turning their nose up at the lamb.
DH had to give back the company printer last week and now DD is not happy as she needs to be able to print off stuff for school and gccse's. DH not happy at the idea of driving in this damp foggy weather so I had a look at Amazon and we have ordered a Dell that comes with free delivery and prints, scans and copies. Fingers crossed it is as good as it looks.
No idea what to make tomorrow but maybe a quorn lasagne or a huge home made pizza for tea.
Hugs to everyone and see you later."This site is addictive!"

Just a quick one before I set off for the hospital.
I've just spoken to the nurse, Martyn is now officially no longer critical! :T And he's eaten some ice-cream! :j
And they're hoping he'll be transferred onto a normal ward in the next couple of days! :T
I really can't believe the change in the last 24 hours, from life support to eating ice-cream. The doctors and nurses at Sunderland Royal are the most incredible people and I could never thank them enough for what they've done.
I'll catch up tonight when I get back. Thanks.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

We have had a stay at home day today. A great many more boxes have been emptied, but we still have about 20 to go, ok two of them are my machine boxes and a couple are from the sewing room, we still have not found the laundry stuff, bet its the last box we open!!!
We have managed to draw the curtains tonight for the first time could not get to them before. I re-hung the net in the guest room, reused the cafe curtain rail in the kitchen, so I have a pretty little bit of lace....I can see over it to the top of the yard where they are grading the spuds in the big sheds. The nets need a wash and also some attention on the sides, they are fraying a bit, so guess one of my first sewing jobs will be seeing to them
Quite a few things have re-appeared today, including the coffee machine and the toaster, frying pans, pressure cooker, stock pot and all the plastic stuff.
I have put our bed linen in the bottom drawewr in our bed. Towels and table linen has been re-located and another wardrobe box emptied. Just mine to go now.
The boiler man came this morning, the motorised valve that feeds the hot water had bust, the switch in the kitchen was for the immersion, so there is a hot water tank in the roof. I will see for myself when I get up there to put the sewing machine boxes away.
I think it must be my place in life to clean up dirty properties, the people who lived here were by no means house proud, I have spent quite a long while cleaning the bathroom, still have stuff to do......we discovered the other unit for the bathroom and also the missing shelf from the medicine cabinet, so more stuff away, also found the loo brush and various other bits and pieces.
Tomorrow we have to go and register with the Drs and then we are going to Straiton to Ikea and Dunelm.....a bit of retail therapy is called for......
Pizza and salad tonight, OH fav tomorrow, fish and chips. This week seems to have wizzed by......Thankfully OH has not had a dizzy for a month........I am not sure if its the ginger etc I got him or just one of those things!!!! we will have to wait and see.Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Molly, when I read your first post, my immediate reaction was that a stiff email needed to be sent to Lakeland, so I'm glad that's been done. You take care, concentrate on getting your bruises healed - and imho after such appalling behaviour, I wouldn't be letting her onto my premises any time soon. Thanks for the support. She is a self-employed courier but Lakeland need to complain to company as she is effectively working for them. She has been back twice! Once because she was so worried about me. Pity she didnt think about the effect she has on people before she acted in the manner she did. My kids dad has just emailed Lakeland the issues and is on my case now. I was going to get so much done today. I have managed to put WM on.
Im now sitting with my curtains closed as she says she will come back later? Feel like she stalking me now. Im such a wimp.
Brilliant news; just seen your subsequent post, re ice cream, too.Good news everyone, they've removed Martyn's ventilator and he's talking! :j
As I've been MIA, I wasn't sure what had happened (and didn't like to ask) but all is now clear. Hoping he continues to make good progress now.
I'm LATE again today - luckily Mr LW's busy at his laptop applying a patch (for his w*rk) so I have a few minutes before I need to feed us.
Still Flyladying like mad, also had a few surveys in my inbox over the last couple of days.
Right. better think about heading kitchenwards.
(((HUGS))) to all who want/need one today; may tomorrow be a better day for all.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
...Am really looking forward to all "our" brides keeping us up to date on the plans. I am really excited. Congretulations to all.
...
Thank you - are you sure about wanting to know all the plans? It could take a while! :rotfl:Just a quick one before I set off for the hospital.
I've just spoken to the nurse, Martyn is now officially no longer critical! :T And he's eaten some ice-cream! ....
:j:beer::j Fab news Anguk
Congrats to SunnyGirl for the job :j:T:j
Am taking a break - got a 2.8kg salmon for just under £10 at Mr T's, so have cut into various sized lumps for the freezer, and put the head, tail & bones into the stock pot. Also made some broccoli & brie y/s soup...no reduced stilton so it's a bit of an experiment - will let you know how it went!
Thought I would have to do some ironing tonight, but have discovered that I had ironed all of OH's shirts last week, so no rush :)and can wait until this week's ones have been through the WM
Does anyone have a pattern for a garter? I've got some fabric from my mum's wedding dress and also the blue watered silk remnants from the dress her sister wore as BM and as both have passed on I thought I would make my garter (old AND blue in one go
)...but I can't find a pattern anywhere
