No diary, my DFD will be in July 2012.
I started with around £-20 in the bank and £15,000 owed on credit cards and loans. It was mainly due to gambling my youth away and just spending money without thinking. I now have left the £4,000 in my signature.
I started by saving for the whole of 2009 and stopped the heavy gambling, although I still had the odd small flutter.
Come January 2010, I had got the debt down to £10,000, whilst saving £5,000 also. So for the next 8 months I started to pay off about £700 a month off credit cards. Then paid off my other loan early and got money off.
Been completely tight with my money and now I'm actually addicted to saving money. I still have the odd flutter, but I bulk at the idea of throwing hundereds away each month like I used to do.0 -
Well done with your progress thats fantastic, I cant wait to get rid if this debt it doesn't stress me like it used to but its still on my mind all of the time wondering if I can clear it quicker my original DFD was Mar 2013 but with DH getting a good promotion this has helped change it alot.
Keep us updated on how you are doing, I have to agree it's very addictive.

Yes it is very addictive.
You just need to make sure that you don't deny yourself everything, shop around and only ever buy small luxuries occasionally and large luxuries, when you absolutely need them.
I have acheivable goals on how much I'm going to save and spend in a month. I check my bank account several times a week to help keep on top. Before I started my debt free journey, I'd check it twice a month at the most as it was very depressing reading.
At first the debt free journey seemed long, depressing and impossible, but with determination and the help of others around here, it is anything but.0
