Just rang them back to see if I could cancel over the phone (long shot) and was told that its not possible, so I read the first bit from there agreement above to her then she tells me I would have to pay a fee, so I read the second part, then she tells me to write in lol

I called to tell them I'm planning to move to TalkTalk (£18.48 per month for phone and broadband) because of the price increases.

They ummm'd and arrrgh'd for ages, then told me there was nothing they could do to reduce my tariff. However, they did offer to disconnect me from VM there and then on the phone.

So - for those who don't want to write a letter, this may be a good tactic.

If I have a bundle - phone, tv, broadband for £25 can I cancel the whole thing? Only the line rental is going up making the bundle £25.99.

The answer is no, you can only cancel the phone.

This has been answered in this thread, see posts #7, #27, #28, #31.

Thanks for your reply but I have read the entire thread and post #16 runs contrary to your opinion which is why I was asking if someone knew for certain.
I'm pretty sure that Virgin don't offer Broadband and TV without the phone line so I wanted to know what would happen if I rang to cancel.
    My bundle is as follows:
    Phone £11
    TV £0
    Broadband £25
    -£11 bundle saving

Anyway I guess I won't know until I ring them in April.. unless someone else can offer me advice who is in the same position as me?

But post #16 states, "Yes you should be IF you signed up for them ALL at the same time as that would be one contract."
If this is your scenario, then go for it, but don't forget the words "IF, should and ALL" in that post.

None of the posts I pointed to, ( 4 out of the 5 posted after #16), share that point in post #16

My point is that this is all conjecture unless post 16 knows this for sure (the should in your snappy roundup). I wouldn't have reffered to post 16 unless I did what they said, this is what I meant by having a bundle.

I could cancel them all but I have had the BB and TV for a long time the new contract was for the phone line which I had installed in December. I have decided to keep my BB though as I don't want to mess about to much and loose my ntl email address.

I am now paying £20 just for 10meg BB.

I'm not tied into any contract with virgin. I have phone, TV(m) and BB (m). Does the increase in line rental equate to a change in the contract, which if I accept, effectively ties me in for a further 12 months? Surely not? And do I have 30 days from the start of April to refuse the increase and shop elsewhere?

on phone with virgin right now, my tv xl & phone line are going up but BB isn't,

according to the gentlemen i've just spoken to you can only cancel the services affected as per section J5 -

    If:
    1. Virgin Media Ltd, Virgin Media Entertainment and/or Virgin Media Payments increase their respective charges under these agreements ;
    2. Virgin Media Ltd and/or Virgin Media Entertainment make significant changes to the services so the services you are entitled to receive in return for the charges you pay are significantly altered or reduced; or
    3. Virgin Media Ltd, Virgin Media Entertainment and/or Virgin Media Payments make significant changes to the terms and conditions of these agreements (including the other legal stuff ),
you may cancel those services affected without penalty by giving Virgin Media Ltd and/or Virgin Media Entertainment (as applicable) at least 30 days' notice in writing. If you cancel any services in these circumstances,

    anyone ben told this also?

Ha ha ha I just got off the phone with a Virgin Media rep who upon hearing my reading of this exact clause claimed that this meant I could only cancel within 30 days of starting my contract. She even emailed me a link to the contract she was so adamant! She's either

    a) a very stupid woman who can't understand what's in front of her in black and white
    b) a stalwart virgin operative doing the job as she has been trained to do, effectively tricking customers away from excersising their contractual rights!

Either way this sort of behaviour should be reported to the authorities. It's not only Goldman Sachs that is routinely tricking and defrauding customers...
