I think carolt and chucky meeting might be a good idea. If nothing else if we can arrange it on Bonfire Night or NYE in central London it will help with the fireworks budget.

Because when this Depression really gets going we will all be going back to the land, so you better sell your Audi or BMW, and buy a Tractor[EMAIL="sweetgirl102ca@hotmail.com"]

Imagine the strange conversation outside your office:

"Morning Bob. Didn't you have a Saab last week?"

"Yeah I did Bill, but I've traded it in for this tractor."

"Interesting decision. Can I ask why?"

"Course you can Bill. I have a pretty certain hunch that we're entering a deflationary vortex and depressionary sprial which could lead to a breakdown of society as we know it. The New World Order, of which I suspect Tracy from Accounting is part of by the way, will finally achieve their goal and we will all become peasants of the land, scrambling for existance. By the end of next week I plan to be living in this tractor having traded all my house and all my possessions in for solid gold, which will be the only usable commodity in the new post-apocalyptic hell we will call life. I'll be buying your children as my land-slaves."

    "Erm... okay."

"See you in the Sales Meeting at ten."

I can't imagine anyone I could possibly have less in common with.

I reckon that you're both more similar that you'd imagine.

If the world as we know it is over and we need tractors......how will the supply chain of deisle fare? will people still man petrol stations? Or deliver to red tanks?

3 years or 4 years, it doesn't matter you might as well have gone to Slough Poly as you would be in the same position as now :T

which backs up the point that Asheron is making

I think you're very wrong about this!

When her kids grow up and she's in a position to put a career first she'll be much more interesting to employees as someone that's worked hard for a degree then taken time out to look after kids than someone that went to the local poly and then got knocked up. Unfair perhaps but....

And in the meantime she's got a great education that will change completely the way she tackles life - the way she learns. And that can all be passed on to her kids.

I'm not knocking anyone that doesn't have a degree - there are lots of ways to live your life. But speaking from experience it makes a huge difference - and the difference made to income and job satisfaction probably is the least important benefit.

I suspect chucky may be imposing his complex about not having a degree onto me - blaming me in some way for the fact he doesn't have a degree? I can't see any other rationale for this rather strange post.

Good point. The post-apocalyptic world I'm imagining doesn't have a BP every few miles with a Spar inside that sells Kit-Kats, over-priced sandwiches, Men Only and novelty car gifts. Although that is still quite a bleak image.
