I think that is not an accurate report of what she said, at all.
oh i think it's very, very accurate - you are too naive sometimes LIR...

Oh, I forgot - bears are the intelligent ones with good jobs who know how to spell. Only the really dim ones who couldn't get proper jobs and can't spot a recession even when it jumps up and down in front of them and kicks them in the shins, are bulls.

It would be interesting to do a survey on here of highest educational achievement/profession on here of bulls v bears.

I'm not aware of a single bull who posts on here with a degree, let alone a proper job.

according to Carol if you have a degree you're superior to people that don't have them...

Hardly, given if you bother to read a few posts back I stated neither of my parents had a degree.

Like SingleSue, however, they very much wanted their children to get the benefits of an education they had not been able to have.

I suspect chucky may be imposing his complex about not having a degree onto me - blaming me in some way for the fact he doesn't have a degree? I can't see any other rationale for this rather strange post.

Possibly. Bt I see the quote as being a continuing (and boring and certainly not one sided.) bone of contention about posters here, not non graduates.

The naive standpoint, IMO,would be to agree with either of you when neither of you will take the moral high ground and QUIT rising to it.

i'd say it was telling people who haven't got a degree that they've not got a chance in getting a good job or even being able to spell properly.... are you saying that's a correct statement?

it's funny that i know numerous people with degrees from good universities like oxford or cambridge that earn less money than others who didn't go to university...

    No - that's your extrapolation.

Yes, so do I. So does everybody. And your point is...?

what world do you live in that you see people in the street and you can classify them as a bull or a bear apart from this forum and be able to tell if they had a degree or not??

you went to Oxford got a good degree in history and are a part time teacher... i'd be expecting a bit more from my professional career if i had gone to oxford studied history for 4 years and had only become a part time teacher.

you might as well have gone to Slough Poly because you could have ended up in the same job... what a waste...

I'm not sure what you are asking...: I think you are asking if I think non grads can spell and hyave good incomes/jobs....and my answer to that would be of course they can in many fields. They can easily out earn others...especially if they have a unique skill...think...I don't know, lets say Robbie Williams (I presume a non-grad?).

    I can't spell :(

it's funny that i know numerous people with degrees from good universities like oxford or cambridge that earn less money than others who didn't go to university...

I know plenty of penniless Oxford grads. And plenty of rich ones. More importantly I know plenty of happy and sad and fulfilled and unfulfilled people. My point is its important to find out -on a personal level- which route will be fulfilling for oneself as an individual. As a state its important to find out which subjects in which routes are ''valuable'' and that it might be time to revisit this.

Ironically of course, the rubbishing has come through a desire to increase ''equality'' and satisfaction...I would say it has done nothing of the sort, and probably quite the opposite.
