What diesel?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Maybe but Mary more than made up for that.
Mary Seacole's reputation after the Crimean War (1853-1856) rivalled Florence Nightingale's. Unlike Nightingale, Seacole also had the challenge to have her skills put to proper use in spite of her being black. A born healer and a woman of driving energy, she overcame official indifference and prejudice. She got herself out to the war by her own efforts and at her own expense; risked her life to bring comfort to the wounded and dying soldiers; and became the first black woman to make her mark on British public life. But while Florence Nightingale has gone down in history and become a legend, Mary Seacole was relegated to obscurity until recently.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I knew friends, that achieved degrees, back in the 80's when their education was free, to them
I honestly can't say I met one of them, even years on, with an ounce of common sence!!
I bet they could spell though'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Used to be you'd be able to drive on Pink or Green diesel, from the farmer's yard - so much cheaper and easily undetectable by the police, back then,
Round here there is a guy who goes EVERYWHERE on an ancient tractor. Its his working tractor (small farm) and his car. I've even seen it parked at church, and often at the pub:eek:, and supermarket. No point in him having a car, he says.....fuel tax costs. I do wonder if it would cost any more for him to have a fuel efficient run about, even after tax and insurance.0 -

He's got it sussed. Probably could afford a 4 x 4 fancy landrover but sticks to the tractor as i will cost him, i'd guess, £1500 a year less to run
Insurance alone is going up 20% this year.
I love driving and the independence and used to be able to afford a nice car, but to keep it on the road, I cannot justify anymore.:(0 -

Perhaps it's Seasick Steve? He started out with nothing and still has most of it left.
I'm guessing he perhaps doesn't have a degree - but he can play the banjo!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55
