hope you find your cat.
would be devastated if mine went missing.
Just want to re-mention getting people to check sheds etc, cat might hide if its someone they dont know?:j0 -
Yes Princessleah I did post that story...and the furrball in question is sitting behind me on the sofa purring like an engine as I type!0

I hope she turns up, it's worth knocking on everyone's door and asking if you can check their sheds/garages/gardens yourself. Some people will think you're mad but I've found, when one of mine has gone missing, that people generally will help - or at least humour you.
Good idea from Princessleah_ about going round to the man's garden late at night, you stand more chance of hearing her later on, too.
Keeping everything crossed for her safe return.0 -
My munchkin went missing for a few hours late one evening and I was doing my absolute nut (he was 'always' waiting outside for his dinner when I got home for work - no cat flap). I spent hours walking up and down the local roads calling his name and being near a main road, I was convinced something terrible had happened. I had my mum and sister also round shouting for him when someone thought they heard something in our flats parking area. A few faint miaows later and we realised he was sat in the back of one of my neighbours cars!
It transpired that he had jumped into her open boot while she was unloading her shopping and with being a black cat and her car being dark she didn't realise, and shut him in.
He looked a bit bleary eyed so we assume that while I was having a mental breakdown, he was sound asleep on her back seat not 5 metres from our front door!
Keep thinking positive I'm sure Jack will turn up (A friends cat came home 10 days after she had 'lost' her. It turned out she had been looked in someones garage while the homeowners were on holiday)0 -

She's been found and is home. I can't believe it.
I had a call today from a lady who lives about 1/3 mile away saying a cat just like mine had been hanging around her front door since last night making a lot of racket and wolfing down every bit of food she was given. They'd put her in a cat basket because she was disturbing their cats.
To be honest I didn't think it was her but because I was already out in the car and close by I thought I'd go and have a look straight away.
I'm still in shock. It was her making a horrendous noise and absolutely filthy. It's 2 weeks today since she went missing. She was 1 block beyond where I'd posted leaflets through doors but I had put plenty of posters up round there. She'd also got across quite a busy road. She was in completely the opposite direction to where the man has been feeding a cat in his garden.
I went out the night she went missing and I walked in the direction she was found so I wonder if she followed me and got lost. As always with cats we will never know. The main thing is she is home. She has wolfed down some food and is now fast asleep. She seems a bit thinner but not too bad and surprisingly not too thirsty so she must have been drinking water out of puddles. The most noticeable thing about her is how dirty she is so I'm going to get some baby wipes and her clean her up.
...................................I'm so happy
Guys, thank you for all your help and support. It has got me through this difficult time.0 -
:j:j:j Brilliant news.
I'm really, really pleased for you both0 -

I don't think your cat got lost a third of a mile away, I think she was locked in somewhere and got filthy. Be careful what you use to clean her isn't toxic to cats, some of the kitchen antibacterial sprays are so I guess other cleaning products might be.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Im so glad you got your happy ending!! When Missy came home she was covered in engine oil so I used fairy washing up liquid to try and cut through the grease. She didn't really appreciate her baths but it did the job.

Had a few hours with her now and she seems very shaky. When she first arrived back she ate, drank and fell asleep but now she seems very on edge and she is on guard all the time. We've also noticed she's completely hoarse and almost lost her voice.
Her fur is in a bit of a state and she's got a very small bald patch on her ear. However, I can't imagine what state I'd be in if I'd just spent 14 days exposed to the elements in a very cold February.
Going to let her recuperate tomorrow and then get her down to the vets on Monday for a check up and that all important microchip.
To anyone in a similar situation, follow up every lead and don't assume anything until you can verify it for yourself. We really started to believe that our cat was living in someone's garden who had contacted us (he was adamant it was our cat) yet we hadn't seen the cat for ourselves and we eventually found her in totally the opposite direction.0
