At 9am I noticed, on the internet, that my bank had paid a direct debit for £125, although there was only £90 in the account. Within twenty minutes I had paid £50 in cash into the account which meant I was now £15 in credit.
Some hours later the bank returned the debit and charged me £17.50. It's bad enough being charged when the bank makes a payment that takes you over the limit; but to still be charged when they reverse the payment seems a double con.
This is a current a/c in a local building society that purports to look after the individual - 'more than just a number' etc.
Has anyone else had this experience and were you successful in reclaiming the penalty?0 -
Hi,
Can anyone help me...
We recently made a claim from Halifax for PPI which tookthem several weeks to respond. Eventually they sent us a letter stating that they were going to repay all of our PPI, and that we would have to sign the document to agree to the way they were going to calculate it. We sent this off at the beginning of September and having chased them on Monday, (6 weeks later).... the lady from Halifax said that they still hadnt calculated the amount payable, then went on to say that there was a backlog, and no timescale could be given for when it would be settled. She also stated that in fact that there may not be any money to pay to us!!!
Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone have any advice on how I can move forward with this.
Many Thanks Jo0 -

Hi, Am reclaiming bank charges from my loan with Santander. Sent the first letter giving 14 days and the 14 days it up tomorrow and I haven't had any reply from them.
What is my next step please? Do I write to them again and if so what do I put now?
Thanks x0 -

It's not the bank's fault there wasn't enough in your account to cover the initial overdraft. Email them and ask them to reconsider, but unless it's a goodwill gesture I doubt you'll get it back0 -

Give them the 14 days??? It's only day 13. Plus, they can respond within the 14 days so technically they can send a letter tomorrow and have responded. Just wait.0
