Give them the 14 days??? It's only day 13. Plus, they can respond within the 14 days so technically they can send a letter tomorrow and have responded. Just wait.

No need for an abrupt reply, I said the 14 days were up tomorrow so obviously I am waiting until them I am just been prepared....don't respond to people's posts if you aren't willing to help

Guess what guys i got £700 bank charges back from Halifax (current accounts x3) within 7 days - i didn't even write a 2nd letter - after their recent ruling i thought i had NO CHANCE in h*ll..... they refused me before with another account i had 2 years ago which i ended up just paying myself and closing) but i tried again with these new accounts they didn't even fight - i checked online banking today and £762 has been refunded and the thing is around £300 of it was actually owed to them and wasn't charges so I'm baffled but I'm not going to complain!!!

I went down financial hardship route and mentioned i was disgusted with a worker of theirs - they promised to freeze my account and charges when i realized i was going to get more charges and they never did so i incurred £400 worth of extra charges across three accounts

Don't give up you might just be lucky/blessed and not even have to go to the Ombudsman - i will happily share the content of my letter if you wish just PM me xXx
  • Hi,
After successfully reclaiming ppi on loans and credit cards from Lloyds I am just starting to try and help my daughter and her boyfriend reclaim bank charges on a Santander account. Could anyone give me the address for Santander to send the initial SAR to. Many thanks
  • hi, i tried to claim my bank charges back from santander about 4 weeks ago and they replied with a normal letter saying if i was having problems with my account on charges i was to speak to their collections department and discuss it with them. they also sent me a booklet on their bank charges.
I just addressed the letter to the complaints department, and the address on my statement.Let me know how you get on,

  • Hi can anyone help at all
Ive been looking at my halifax statments and i was charged interest on a daily rate it seems for going over my overdraft. Can I claim this back as it seems excessive?

If so, do i then add on the 8% statutory interst on top?

    ANy guidance would be appreciated

    Thanks

Hi, I am hoping to get some charges back from my bank (HSBC) has anyone been successful? i am in financial hardship, single mum, work part time (no childcare!) and borrowing from friends/family to make ends meet each month as i work to pay the rest of my rent =(

I've looked through all my online bank statements from 2006 until now, my last charge was 2010. all charges totalling £1358 without the interest they charged me too. they're mostly overdrawn charges and a few returned DD, do you think i will be successful in my claim? i have used Martins template but am stuck to put in my "personal circumstances" i've said im a single mum etc.

help - they money would be such great help as im in so much debt, no light...have lived off all the credit i could get now i am trying to pay it back =((
  • Hi..Im new to this and just wondering if I could have some advice and If it is worth me chasing this up?
From 2003 until this day I have been charged nearly £4000 in bank charges..I was young and in the armed forces and to be honest I just used my card until it was declined...I had no overdraft but I still managed to withdraw money what I didnt have ..so every month a charge would be placed on my account.
I asked the bank to send me all bank statements...which they did...but they charged me £5 for the paper they were on...and as seen as my balance was £0 at the time..they charged me £38 for going over my balance.
I have a loan to pay off and when I left the army in 2009 I thought i would be covered until I got back on my feet...seems not...i went into arrears and had to take out another loan to cover it....I live with my other half who works part time and my two children one of which i look after throughout the day....I am currently looking for work but its hard getting an income which would cover costs...loan, childcare etc ...so what I am trying to say is....could I go down the financial hardship rouite? A letter has been sent to customer response service unit from my bank because it was over 6 years old...thankyou for taking the time to read and sorry if ive gone off the subject a bit...just wanted to get my situation across...many thanks
  • Hi, I'm hoping someone could give me advice. Having requested statements from his bank, I've been going through them all dating back to 2001. It makes grim reading, considering on average he was paying £65 a month in bank charges for going over his overdraft and returned payments etc. Some months totalling £140!

My mum left work due to illness around this time and so my dad was pretty much paying all the bills/debts etc.

I've gone through all his statements, highlighting the bank charges and I'm in the scary process of totalling this up :silenced:

What should I do next? Is it worth trying to reclaim some of these charges for him?

    Thanks in advance
