Thank you Money saving expert, I kept saying I will need to try and claim back ppi, I sat down and completed the form on your site within 1hr and sent away recorded delivery and 14 days later I got an offer, I really didnt expect it to be this easy but my goodness if it wasnt for you i dont think I would have ever put in a claim, Anyone that is thinking about it, all I can say is do it. my offer is going to help me with my new home. Also I would like to say my loan with ppi went back to 2004. Thank you once again and good luck to everyone0

I have a £600 overdraft and get charged at least 35 to 75 every month im not sure what is a fair charge and not can anyone help
Whilst we all think it's not fair to be charged so much
Court rulings have decreed that bank charges are fair and that is now set in stone. So no claims based on unfair charges will be considered by any bank.
If you are in difficulties either see your bank manager to arrange a management plan to repay what you owe or, if you are in severe financial difficulties, look on here to see if you fit the criteria for claiming back as well as how to do it:

hi, i am in the same boat as you, i am with barclays too any although they charge me £8 too, i am paying around £30 every moth in charges. what did you do about it
Hi
I have been wondering the likelihood of me claiming back the many £22 bank charges that were applied to my account over the past few years.
Most of them were because the charges would always be taken at the end of the month (when the account was almost empty) which would just create a vicious cycle of debt.
Was your experience similar & have you had any luck with reclaiming? Any information you have would be gratefully appreciated :undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided:undecided0 -

Is it worth me trying to claim some money back as alot of my charges were re-occuring from charges being taken when i had no money and was out of work but had i just been charged the £8 back them i would have broken the cycle alot sooner and it would never have got no where near as bad as it did. Technically if it happend to me again now, i would only be charged £8 so should i make a complaint or is it not worth it?
Any help would be most appriciated.
Thanks.x

Not sure how long you have been in this new DMP with them but it would be an idea to write a fairly strong but polite letter (send it recorded **or see below) explaining the fact that you have made no inroad in your debt even though you have complied with the agreement (you will need to supply proof of your payments) and therefore you cannot see the debt ever being settled. Politely ask for the charges to be frozen while you pay off the balance of the debt. If they are aware of your difficulties they are obliged to offer some constructive help.
I see you say you have requested a refund and also a stop to the charges. Have they responded to this yet? Perhaps an appointment to see the branch manager might be appropriate, you could always hand him/her your letter**. Stopping the increasing charges is the first priority I feel. Phone calls are not always of use in situations such as yours as you have found. You need things in writing and keep copies of it all for the future too.
Would like to resolve it my self and send a letter to the bank manger now.
My credit file says default all other comanies says that it on a dmp:mad:0 -

Well it's good that you are paying things off. You will get there in the end.
I'm assuming that you wrote as per my response to your last posting. Not so good that it's 6 weeks and no reply. Presume the recorded letter was received?
In any case, I should get the quill and ink out this weekend and get your Manager's letter delivered for Monday:D
The FOS are inundated. However, don't give up. Just keep at it. Good luck
