- Bank name: Lloyds TSB
- Amount Reclaimed: £2536.83 inc interest
- Amount they paid: £465.00
- The story: Reclaimed under the hardship rule using a template from this site, sent letter on the monday received a call next day offering to refund all charges from 2011 totalling £415 plus £50 goodwill payment and the £30 charge which was due to be debited in December written off, was paid into account same day from CS Andover. Really didnt expect anything was just chancing my arm so would advise anyone to send a letter at the cost of a postage stamp.

Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice please!
I will be sending a letter to my bank trying to reclaim bank charges, however can someone please clarify something for me.
Is it only the 'charges as notified' I can reclaim or can I chance it and add on charges for arranged & unarranged overdrafts??
My bank is the Halifax (Bank of Scotland). My 'charges as notifed' are £406 but my overdrafts fees are £242!!!! Arghhh!!0 -

Hi all, we've had a letter back from fos saying they aren't upholding our mbna claim for charges. They're saying because they are charges earlier than 2006 we should have claimed before now! Thing is, if we knew then that they were unlawful we would have!! It's only after using this site we knew we had the right to complain! So frustrated! Is there anything else we can do? Please can someone help?
Also fla have said no to refunding ppi on burtons account as they can't tell what happened when it was sold due to it being older than six years! Is there anything we can do with both of these? Feeling slightly deflated0 -

Amount Claimed: £810
Amount Refunded: £70.00 - So Far
I wrote a letter to my bank (Santander) on the 26/10/2011, literally two days ago! Today i have checked my online banking and have three refunds adding up to £70.00 on my account, and also the charges due to come out next month have all been revoked. Saving me a total of £105.00. Its not what i asked for but its better than nothing, very very pleased and it didn't take months it only took me TWO DAYS!Didn't in all honesty think i was going to get any sort of refund so very happy with the result so far. I am awaiting correspondence from Santander to tell me if that is all i will receive or if there may be more to come. Will keep you posted!!
Many Thanks MSE and Martin!:T
So....... two weeks later, i have received a letter from Santander explaining the £70.00 refund - and im not as ecstatic as i was two weeks ago... and although it felt good to get some money back, having heard what the refund was for i feel some what peed off by them.
The 70.00 refund was the charges from last month - that is all. as a "good will gesture" (to keep me quiet and 'happy') they basically just refunded the latest charges and then canceled the rest of the charges due to come out this month. Woopty doo!
Yesterday, in a moment of anger, i replied to Santander to let them know i wasn't happy with this. I used the second template letter, but i did edit it to show how annoyed i was! In April last year - they charged me - wait for it......£375.00 in CHARGES in TWO days! not weeks/months/years... TWO DAYS! and they think that is fair?! i went overdrawn by accident using the wrong bank account through paypal and a few payments came out totalling £64.91 - by the end of the next day i was -£438.91! when i had realised the mistake i funded the account by £100 pound to more than cover the cost of what i had accidently spent but still was overdrawn due to the charges... it then took me two weeks wages to get out of the overdraft - at which time i had NO MONEY what so ever, i had to borrow money from family members just to travel to and from work every day!
and they think that is fair?! taking over 5 times the amount i went overdrawn and only refunding me last months charges.....grrrrrff!
Very, very annoyed.
Excuse my rant... my fingers are tightly crossed in hope they will see how that cannot possibly be deemed reasonable charges?!
Anyone think ive got a hope in hell of getting something more back from them...or is this the end of the line for me?:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
Close to the edge - close to giving up!!

Thankyou Bee Sting for mentioning the email route. I think I will try this as it seems faster than waiting for an exchange of letters. My son is a student but deteriorating mental health has meant he's had to suspend his studies and live on SDA. He immediately got into a debt spiral with the bank charging him 162 GBP in the last 4 months on an income of just 1056 GBP.
Can I ask, please, did you use the template text just like a letter? And did you list the bank charges as it says?0 -
Can anyone help me?How do I know if I have paid PPI insurance?I have got a credit history but it doesn't tell me anything there and I cant remember what I did last week never mind 6 years ago!!0
