Card Co - BHS
Claimed - 0.00
Received so far - £580

Original letter also sent on the 13th july requesting full refund of all charges. (didn't think i would get any back and didnt ask for an amount - i just asked for all charges) received a letter today listing all charges saying the £580 would be taken of my balance.

so AGAIN - THANKS MARTIN

Fantastic news! Well done:T
• Wrote to Halifax Bank on behalf of my daughter who had £594 in charges added to her account in little over 3 months. They wrote back admitting to an error in adding £188 after she had told them she was in financial difficulties and refunding a further £273 without admitting liability. They also refunded £4.48 in interest and paid £50 compensation for the inconvenience. Total repaid £515.48.

Not a total success but enough to pay off her overdraft, which only existed due to the charges anyway, so she is happy.

My wife had a loan with Egg, for £14000, which included £4000 ppi, after reading about Martins Campaign to get our PPI payments back, I said to the wife lets give it a go, as she said she was sold it on the condition of no insurance, no loan.

We sent the Letter in December last year, and got the usual stalling Letter in reply, I pointed out that both my wife and I where good customers of Egg, and had many Loans and Egg Cards, and where fully Finacially aware of the products we bought.

As luck would have it, the last 6 months have been full of Good News for us, with the Judicial review, and other Banks willing to pay out.

Today we received a cheque for £6517.17, which included 8% Interest on payments made, and 8% on Compensentry payments as well.

Thank You Egg for seeing the Light at last, and Thank you Martin for putting us onto this dreadful misseling that occured.

• Hi,

I am just about to start the process of claiming back my bank charges.
What address do i send my financial hardship letter too.
Is it my local branch?

Thanks
• Hi,

Just wanted to tell you all of my recent success.

I have quite a hefty overdraft with Lloyds TSB and the majority of this overdraft was made up of charges that had been applied to my account for going over my agreed limit.

I read on here about a story of someone writing to the CEO directly, so I googled who this was and sent my letter using the template from this site.

Within 1 day I received a phone call from a nice lady in the complaints team who agreed to refund me £1700. Still can't believe that it only took 1 letter and within 1 day this was sorted out!

Hi Everyone,

i've been a reader of the website for a while and now finally have some good news report.

i sent an email to the CEO at Lloyds TSB on the 4th July
(antonio.osorio@lloydsbanking.com) regarding bank charges. I went down the hardship route and asked for 1481.00 back from the last 6 years.

i got a call the next day saying they were looking into it. Two weeks later another call offering me £270 for charges relating to this year. i argued that some charges made last year bought about the charges this year. the caller had to check with a colleague but then called me back and I was finally offered back £485. its not the full amount but i honestly didn't think i would get anything back so happy with that!

i have another claim in for ppi so fingers crossed!

Hopefully this will inspire more people to challenge their bank if its part of the lloyds banking group.
In March I lost my job through depression and ended up on ESA benefits of £67.50 a week. My wife was working full time but the bills were starting to pile up. my own personal ones were charges on charges after going over my overdraft. i had stopped all DDs to ensure no more items could bounce but i was still being charged. i also had a halifax credit card which had been passed to blair oliver scott who did nothing to help me when i rang up to try and set a repayment plan with them. they wanted £30 a month and didnt even bother looking at the income and expenditure form i sent them saying i could afford £5 at a stretch.
halifax also phoned saying i was currently nearly £150 over my overdraft limit and wanted me to start repaying it.
as my benefit was paid into this account i was allowed to withdraw it but this meant i had to go into the branch, wait for them to ring head office to authorise it before i could get my money because i wasnt allowed to use my card at the atm due to being so overdrawn.
it did feel very demeaning having to go in every fortnight to ask for permission to get my benefit and also due to me getting very anxious and nervous in busy public situations it began to get stressful. i had asked the bank if i could set up another account to get my benefits to but the staff looked down their noses at me, making me feel like i was some sort of pathetic case.
I was also transfered to the inhuman robinson way over my credit card even though i was told my case was being handled by halifax again. for those of you with experience of robbers way you will know just how forceful and rude they are.
last week i read on here about people with halifax who wrote to reclaim charges with success so i decided to give it a go.
i couldnt find the customer service email but noticed one for the CEO of lloyds banking.
I copied the letter on here and added my own words about everything that happened and also mentioned my credit card situation. i asked for the charges to be refunded as a goodwill gesture.
i sent the email friday afternoon.
at 3pm today i got a phonecall from a lady called becky who said that the CEO had forwarded the email to her and that they wanted to help the best they could as they felt that i had been let down in the past and the current situation i was in was not helping my mental health.
she then said that although they would not refund my charges from 6years they hoped that i would accept a compromise.
she wiped all the charges and cleared my overdraft and refunded me so that my account would be £200 in credit plus i could still use my overdraft if they lowered the limit from £250 to £200.
As regards my credit card (which was £1500) she said that blair oliver scott had not been sympathetic towards me but if i a doctors note as proof that i had depression then as a goodwill gesture they would wipe my credit card debt clean as long as i wasnt going to use it(i havent been able to use my card for over a year anyway so its no loss)
its not 6years of charges but to be honest i wasnt expecting to get anything at all. and by halifax doing this it has lifted a massive weight off my mind so of course i said yes. its two less debts to worry about and all it took was one email to the chief exec and a wait over the weekend.
I couldnt say that everyone would get the same result but if you dont write you will never know. and if you go into it expecting nothing back at least something back is a bonus.
by emailing the chief exec i had bypassed all the red tape and fob off of customer service. whether he will end up withdrawing this route is to be seen but give it a go folks and i hope, really hope you will be as succesful as me.
thanks to martins letter and the inspiration of other people on here for giving me the courage to do it!!
