    Hi all...
Ive put a claim in to Lloyds tsb for unfair charges, now they have offered me a refund of charges but have said they do not have to pay the interest saying they dont believe we have any basis for which this can be challenged, is this right?
I have absolutely no idea where to go with this!

  • Hi All! First time I posted on here!

I have got myself into a spiral of bank charges with Natwest's advantage gold account recently, where a few months ago, I started getting overdrawn, and initially I got charged around £50.
The second month I got charged £70, as due to having paid the charges I was short.

Last month, the charge was a whopping £135! I was struggling to afford this, and after reading your forums, I thought I'd ring up first before trying the Ombudsman/letter route.

There is a dedicated line for bank charges at Natwest. I explained my situation, and the lady at the other end agreed to waive my current £135, as well as a "pending" £108 that she informed me was due.

I know it doesn't reclaim the previous charges I may have had, but hey, I still managed to recoup £243, plus she said she would also waiver the usual £12.95 standard charge I pay on the account as a "goodwill gesture".

So guys, it's always worth phoning in first!

    Hi all,
Just want some advice. Have said I will help my daughter and her boyfriend try and reclaim bank charges from Santander. A few years back (maybe 2 or 3) they had a joint account. They were struggling financially and went over their overdraft limit. Each month this happened charges were added. Then every month the overdraft took a chunk of their wages so they went overdrawn again. The charges started to spiral and they then took payday loans to cope. (I know - bad idea but when you're desperate!) The result was they started a DMP with payplan and switched to another basic bank account. They are now in a bit better financial shape and gradually paying off their debts. The spiralling charges put them in debt and I feel they have good reason to claim these charges back. Do you think they have any chance and also can anyone give me the address for Santander to start the ball rolling. Thanks

hoping someone can help me i was asked by lloydstsb to go into the branch for a yearly financial review update in 2005 that was done and passed to me clearly showing at the end i had more going out than i had coming in but then was asked if i required a credit card or loan for a new car i said i would like a new car but was unsure what i could afford she said i could have a loan for £2500 for £86.00 a month it was done there and then in 2007 i fell into financial hardship i rang them and they put into a refinance loan which they included my overdraft of £500 my payments were reduced to £39.00 i recently received a statement of my loan i still owe £1860 when im finished i will have payed them back £6600 i think loans were given on commision basis for seller of loan and me not have gettin that loan i would not have fallen into hardship and not be in this position now anyone no if banking code has been broken

Has anyone had any luck with Natwest claiming there charges back?

I had an account with them from 2000 to 2007, i closed the account and moved to another bank as it was a staff account and they forgot to keep removing the tag from it, i during that time had a few bank charges some of which reached upto £200, i asked back at October 2010 for a good will gesture of the charges to be refunded, no interest just the charges but was sdeclined on the grounds that they claimed they were invesitigating and such, i have recently sent another letter outlining the financial impact which they have had on my life etc and i am waiting to here. However I am wondering whether anyone has had any luck with Natwest Charges??
  • I was declined my bank charges claim from Lloyds TSB back in 2008. I re-sent a letter using the template from this site a few weeks ago, which also had additional charges added on since 2008.

I was owed £700 and received back £230 which I am more than happy with considering I thought I would receive nothing!!!
