Hi wonder if someone can help me here.
Natwest have made me an offer of £300 which they say represents the overdraft charges for the last 6 months.
My original claim is for £3k which is how much the account is overdrawn by.
I want to write back and say i want it all paid back so they can close my account but can't find a template letter can someone help me please????
Why do you think that £300.00 is insufficient? Does that not alleviate your financial hardship?0 -
No we didnt take the PPi but thanks for the suggestions do you think I should leave the bank charges claim?
I haven't said that either but there are cases in England and Scotland which might pave the way for others to follow using an individualistic approach rather than a simple templated approach.0 -
I have tried to reclaim under the financial hardship with lloyds tsb nearly 5000.00 in bank charges and 6000.00 in ppi.
They have continued to ignore my claim for the past 2 years, where do i go from here.

I still can't believe it really, I bank with barclays for the last 9 months or so I have been living in my reserve. They were charging me £22 every five days and i was now getting the maximum charges applied to my account every month.
I had been into my local branch to discuss my situation when the charges first appeared explaining that i was now on reduced hours and not earning what i used to, and that i had reduced my out goings as far as possible. I was told that they could do nothing to help me with the charges as a different department applied them and that if i could get myself out of it they would eventually call me and take my account into management.
Forward 5 months they were still charging me, the charges were getting more and more and no one had contacted me. In Feb2010 i'd had enough it was costing me at least £110 a month for the privelage of using the reserve. I went to the branch again and they still coundn't help me. I was able to show them that if they didin't apply the charges i would be able to pay back £120 a month and that it was the charges crippling me. I decided to send a letter (the template from this site) and make a claim for financial hardship. I hear nothing from barclays and sent a follow up letter in March again i heard nothing, I phoned the bank and made an official complaint and was told i would have a response to my complaint with in 5 working days, and still no contact. I phoned again and asked to be put through to someone in the complaints department, they told me that they were dealing with my complaint for hardship from february and that there investigation had to be complete by 23rd April. On Saturday 10th April I received a phone call telling me thay had reviewed my complaint and 'as a good will gesture' they would refund all my charges from the last two years £806. As of today that money is back in my account (which i will be closing).
I still can't believe it. I was expecting them to tell me where to go not pay up with out a fight. I am one of the lucky ones but it just shows its worth purservering and arguing your corner otherwise they will take advantage.
Don't let them off hook and keep pushing them they know they charges are unfair.0 -
Hi,
I had a success only yesterday.
I wrote to the Alliance & Leicester (Using the template letter off this site) making the "snowballing" charges argument described in the guide.
I requested a refund of £208 (This was the amount that was both my charges & how much I was overdrawn - the charges are what took me over the limit) plus that they waive my upcoming charges.
I received a letter stating they have refunded £250 (More than asked for!) and waived the charges I am due to receive in May - stating that "after fully investigating the claim; we can see that you are in a cycle of charges..."
This is a pleasing result for me - it's not mega-bucks but means I will not be starting my month with a full paycheck available for use!

Hi Everyone what a great site
I'm in the same state as Patrick82, I have been into Barclays 3 times to ask them to increase my overdraft from £500 to £750. Which i might say they refused. They are charging me £130 a month in charges. So i got a phone call from Barclays one day,the woman that phoned me said she would increase my overdraft to £990. I have agreed to pay back £140 per month to get these charges down. But they have put a caution on my debit card, so now i cannot get into my account at all !!
Any ideas of what i can do about this? I am now borrowing money for fuel for my car, so i can work to earn money.0 -
