Evening, gonna catch up on all your posts.
Today I thought I'd spent very little... but actually I've added it all up and it came to over £10. I found myself on ebay again, bidding on yet more jewellery. I got a pretty little charm bracelet for £2.50 delivered - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230441504027&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D230441504027%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
Also bought a necklace in New Look for £2, a cheapie eyecream, lotto ticket, crisps
It's never ending.
Received my coat in the post too... don't know what's wrong with me. When I tried it on in the shop I love it so much, but now I'm in two minds whether to keep it. I feel hideously fat at the moment... I think that's the problem.
Oh, and re: dressing your age. I really don't dress my age, I dress like a scruffy teen (though I quite like that look). I don't dress remotely girly... usually just skinny jeans and a hoodie of some kind. I'm trying to make the effort to dress up a bit more though - I'd eventually like to wear dresses/skirt, but don't think I will be any time soon! I can't even wear a fitted coat without feeling like I'm drawing attention to myself

Hey all, just caught up (and saw I was called 'odd' a few pages back :rotfl:Not odd just I love clothes and like to look nice if that's all the same)
Sales Addict big hugs for you. Try to make a bit of time for you, even if it's just a nice bath or something when you get in from the hospital.
Mags, thanks for the tip re men/babies but I only do the casual bit anyway so no hassle for me! Know what you mean about your house and all your money going on it. I rent but it's so expensive and leaves me with a tight budget. Still I'd rather live alone and in an area close to town then with flatmates and miles away.
Hope all are well. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
I don't know what to say, but please take care of yourself xsalesaddict wrote: »Hi everyone,
sorry I haven't had a lot to say. I am really worried about my Dad at the moment. Part of me is relieved that his heart is too weak to have the chemo. I really didn't want to see him go through all that at 79. But of course I am terrified that the cancer will come back and I will feel responsible for steering him away from the Chemo. Although my sister feels it was the Doctor who was very subtley steering us away. At least he will now get to see the cardiologist that he should have seen at the beginning of his health problems in September. I haven't spent anything except on food. I seem to have lost my joie de vivre at the moment and I just feel that I could sleep for a week. I think its from spending too much time in hospitals. It's lovely to read all your posts though.

Hi everyone I love reading this thread and all your posts,
I've just sat through Eastenders, Holby and Five Nights and all the while was sorting my loose change into bags of £1.70 - didn't clear it away as I feel exhausted and my fingers went black. Didn't have enough bags in the end. Couldn't believe it took so long.
Completelylost - I like that bracelet you bought, such a good price. Are you nervous to dress up because of shyness?
NGlady - I bet you would look good in pinks. What colours are you wearing now?
I dress youngish too even though I'm probably ancient compared to most of you. I think it's because nowadays people dress differently to the time my parents were my age - everyone is very casual these days but they weren't then, my mum and her friends were always dressed up and never wore trousers.
I don't wear trousers either nowadays, because I can't get any I'm comfortable with. Plus because of my skin I can't wear tights or stockings so have to wear very long socks under boots with skirts.
Where I live there are limited clothes shops - small Peacocks, Ethel Austins, Factory whatesit and New Look. Then there is one designer boutique with millionnaire type prices. So women of all ages are buying the younger aged clothing or looking in charity shops, it's often strange to see an elderly lady with a blue rinse shopping for herself in Peacocks as it's all low slung jeans and no skirts. We do have one very upmarket charity shop too with prices to match.
lisainglasgow - WOW I love the sound of your bracelet. Have you got any piccies?
Mags, I can see how the finances must be hard on your own.
Mippy - Liz Jones - That woman really irritates me, some of her articles are beyond belief. Same as Lucy Cavendish.
Blonde Ambition - welcome to the group
.
Morocha - that incident with your OH's work place was very funny to read about - that man was well and truly caught out.
Well I had a NSD except for the £1.70 for the craft club subs. That's the reason I'm doing all those individual bags.0 -
Need to buy some new work clothes tomorrow which I can't even pretend not to be excited about! Got some money budgeted for it too which is even better. Anglea do you have psoraisis (sorry spelling)?'The road to a friends house is never long'0

I think it was completelylost (Sorry if it wasnt u cant find the post now lol) who asked me about Internet dating? I have been doing it for a little while, and it is a nice way of meeting new people. On certain websites, there is the ability to send a automated no thankyou email which when I first recieved used to knock me a little, but now I just laugh them off so you do have to have the ability to laugh at it. Always be safe though, meet in public places and I guess just be honest online, talk to people and get to know people and generally have a laugh with it. It is always a lovely feeling when somebody online gives you a compliment, how daft is that?!
Angela yeah, the boring things you dont get the thrill from I hate buying
I did this the other day, went to Asda on the 4 for £3 deal, and brought the boring things, nail varnish remover, female things, razors etc which I hate buying, now im stocked up until about June lol.
Completelylost - How similar are you to me lol.
I am exactly the same with returning items!! I travel to the other stores too, as I keep thinking oh if i keep going into the Derby Oasis/next/whereever there going to recognise me and there going to think im up to no good, so ill go to other stores. I hate it when they look at you when ur returning things as if to say ... aha ur that crazy lady with the shopping adiction who cant afford a shopping adiction so you get ur fix then return ur fixes.
Yeah that was me, but I deleted my post as I thought maybe I was asking something too personal
I would worry about putting my photo on a dating site, in case anyoen I knew found it.
LOL at us being paranoid about returning things. I try to push the paranoid thoughts to the back of my mind - even if they do realise what we're doing, there's nothing they can do to stop us returning them
It's not as if anyone has ever said anything about me retuning items, it's just the look on their faces - says it all!lisainglasgow wrote: »Well done everyone - you are all doing really well! I got a load of jewellery bits to the house on friday as well as a new coat that I have been waiting on. The coat needed the buttons repostioned which was a bit annoying but it was really cheap! I made a bracelet and have done some other wee bit at the weekend - I didn't go out so I had 2 NSD but I have made up for it by buying a new set of scales - how exciting! I am a bit sad but I love buying homeware - I love to feather my nest!
That's not weird at all, I like buying homeware too... even though I don't have my own home. Especially storage boxes (I think I might have mentioned that obsession before
).Haha! Poor bust-obsessed men. I have seen men walk by me blatantly staring at my chest...then they look up to see me staring them straight in the eye. Though in the winter I'm more covered up in knitwear.
Speaking of busts, I culled half my T-shirts last night -t hings I bought but didn't suit my shape. 38 T-shirts gone. And they're from Threadless, so that cost me postage and packaging and probably customs fees too. But it felt good to let go. Just got to work out what to do with them...
I LOVE Threadless tshirts. What did you do with them? I don't think I could part with mine (I only have a few).
edit: thought you'd binned them, then reread your post.0 -

I don't know why I don't dress up... I just feel more comfortable very casual (skinny jeans, boot/flats and usually a long top or hoodie). I guess it's my 'style'. Or perhaps I'm just not very adventurous. I do worry that wearing overly dressy/girly things makes me look like a man in drag
How stupid is that!
Why can't you wear tights, if you don't mind me asking?
My mum dresses quite young, but tastefully. She looks amazing for her age (50s)... people are often surprised when they find out that we're mother & daughter! Good for her but bad for me... LOL. My nan is a snazzy dresser too and has never dressed her age so I think that's where my mum gets it from (she was a complete shopaholic when she was able to go out too). But anyway, I think that so long as you're happy with what you're wearing then there shouldn't be a problem with it
You've reminded me that I have a full Quality street tin of coppers than need counting - to be banked though. Don't want to be holding up any queues with them!0 -
Hi Souk, good luck with your shopping.
Skin - infections and rashes caused by overheating. Because I walk everywhere (and a lot of it) I always have to dress in a way I feel cool, so only a very thin coat - no padding.. 0 -

That sounds like many parts of rural Ireland. I live in one of the biggest cities outside of Dublin but people who live out the country seem to make weekly or at least monthly trips to bigger shopping areas. And half of Ireland seems to be making regular trips to Newrey in the North for lower UK prices. It seems that location doesn't prevent people from shopping around here.CompletelyLost wrote: »Also bought a necklace in New Look for £2, a cheapie eyecream, lotto ticket, crisps

I'm not sure how/if it's possible to cut out little expenses like these, yes they add up but I find it's so depressing to not be able to buy absolutely anything. It's not always practical either. If I am out shopping for a few hours sometimes I need a drink or to sit down for a bit, hence the coffee shop habit.CompletelyLost wrote: »I don't know why I don't dress up... I'm quite girly but I wear all of those things too. You could wear the flat boots, opaque tights with a tea dress and a boyfriend cardigan.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
I'm almost 32 but I'm not into looking grown up. I base my look on people like Danii Minogue. Last summer I wore a Disney/Mickey Mouse t-shirt with skinny jeans and converse or flip flops and got loads of compliments on it.
I don't know what Dannii Minogue's look is, but I like the jeans/retro T-shirt/converse look a lot. I have size 9 feet so I tend to live in trainers.
Seems very low-mainentance when my drag queen colleague is currently booking a chest/leg wax and spray tan!0
