Anglea: If I had the willpower I'd like to buy clothes a size smaller with the aim of slimming into them... I just worry that it would never happen. Good luck with the skirts though

morocha: that's a right pain about the ebay scammer
enough to put you off ebaying for life! Hope it doesn't though, as it sounds as if overall you're doing well from it.
I'm currently browsing ebay. I have a few items ending tonight, not many have bids on them but I'm hoping there'll be some last minute ones! I've found about 15 bags I like the look of too

How I can relate to that, im the Unemployed girl at the moment still trying to shop in warehouse/oasis - I always go straight to the sale rail though, but still, I should be in primark!
Welcome ms london
Very honest post from you.
I think the best tactic for me is just to avoid the shops, chances are if I go have a look round with no money I'll want to buy everything (never the way when you actually have the money to spend though!).
Sorry to hear about your unemployment, its an awful situation to be in - I've spent 6 months in total of the last year out of work, only now am I getting back on my feet! xx0 -

I love your user name. Your story is really interesting. I hope your not just popping in I hope you will visit this thread regularly.:)
Have you got your own thread about how you paid the debt off, or are paying the debt off?
Hi Salesaddict
I don't have a diary - although if you do a search you may find some of my old posts. I did pay off the debt back in 2005, so certainly not a newbie on here!
Quick rundown: Since I was on a roll with my debt repayments, once I'd cleared them I continued to save at the same rate (with 2 jobs), saved £10,000 to go travelling, was away for 2 years (worked as well), returned in Sep 2008 and hit the recession head on so have spent a good majority of time unemployed and the debt was creeping up again, partly through unemployment and also old habits creeping back in. Now I am back down to £2,000 of debt which is still a lot but small fry compared to the £19,000 I owed! Am hoping to have this paid off by May (again 2 jobs, not going out and on a tight budget!) and I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER get back into debt again.
Phew!
I will definately stay glued to this thread
I hope you are having a good weekend xx0 -
Hi Ms L
It is so great to see you back here! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
How did you all get on today?
I had that 'determined not to leave without buying' feeling, so got a cushion cover which I did need..
Apart from that, necessary food shopping and hair dye and floor cloths. I used a lot of 5p's - counting them out was probably every other shoppers nightmare
although I didn't do it in Iceland as that came to a lot more and I didn't know if I had enough.

How do you have so many 5ps, Anglea? Do you save them or something?

Also well done morocha for having a NSD. Your food sounds delicious... I only have to read about food to make myself hungry
Today I baked a cake (!) - I don't do cooking normally, lol. I mean I can do the basics but y'know, I've never really enjoyed doing it. My mum (who loves to bake) actually said it tasted nice. Miracle!
It was only a tiny one as I was experimenting, but it has all got eaten so I'm pleased. I enjoyed making it more than I was expecting, so might make it a weekly thing to bake something new ^_^
Anyway... today I have done hardly anything. An offer tempted me, I spent £10 but I have a cunning plan to double my money with it AND bag the freebie, so it wasn't a completely thoughtless purchase.
Also arranged a lovely swap with someone on BW. Can't wait to receive that!
How are the rest of you doing? It has been quieter on here today xx0 -
Hello girls,
Morocha I'm glad you enjoyed your day, the food sounded lovely and I really fancy cucumber and yoghurt.
Completelylost - what type of cake was it?
I had to laugh at your para -An offer tempted me, I spent £10 but I have a cunning plan to double my money with it AND bag the freebie, so it wasn't a completely thoughtless purchase.
That sounds like you're trying to justify yourself
So what did you buy?
I was out all day with ex.seeing my son in Panto, then visiting ex's parents. Had a strange reaction a few minutes before I left the house on my face, neck and chest bright red blotches - I think it had something to do with the dental pills
Lucky it went down once I went outside in the cold wind.
My loose change - yes, I've got loads of all different types. I think the 1p's will be the biggest challenge to use up shopping. I tried it a few weeks back. It certainly makes you think twice about buying something.
Last night I also cut my hair quite a bit shorter. Slight problem LOL as I cut the sides at different angles. Luckily I could save it.
So it was a NSD.
I was also wondering why it's been so quiet here - no Royal wedding or anything.0 -
It was a Boots glitch... story of my life! I paid £10 for heated eyelash curlers, eye primer and a giftset with lots of lovely items.
The cake was banana and white chocolate chip. It sounds a bit odd but actually tasted really nice with custard.
I would never have the guys to hand over lots of change. I always get flustered at the checkouts, I'm bad enough couting £1 coins never mind pennies. Can understand how it might put you off spending though!
Oh, and I was thinking the same about it being so quiet - assumed there must be a huge sale somewhere that I hadn't been told about

Hope everyone's well. It has gone quiet here:)I do often feel like a man compared to other women as I have no interest in relationships or having kids but am very feminine and love to socialise and spend time with friends.
.
Sounds familiar. Word of warning though. I've always been happy to tell people that I'm not the maternal type/don't want children but I've learned that certain men will take advantage of that in a not nice way. I'm thinking of one man in particular who told me he loved me, I genuienly believed he did but the reality was I was just convenient because there was no need to worry about contraceptive failures so I suited his selfish purpose perfectly.
It was so much later when I realised that my non-interest in having children was one of the main things about me that was of interest to him. He never asked half so many questions about my exams, work, friends:mad:no dragging each other round supermarkets to look at toilet roll etc .
I get so bored with domestic chores. On Saturday my shopping list included light bulbs and toilet cleaner. The previous Saturday I bought a replacement microwave. So boring. I long for a more glamorous life.
My mother keeps reminding me how lucky I am to have the house but I've started to resent it because I can barely manage to pay for everything on my own. The mortgage and household bills take almost all of my income so I can only make minimum payments on my (consolidated) debt. I've never missed any payments on anything but I haven't been on holidays in the 2 years I've owned the house. I'm so tired of all the responsibility.
In shopping news:) I got the €12.99 RRP €54 plain black cardigan in GAP last week and I "won" the Zara dress on ebay.
In Boots I got the OLAY regenerist face wipes for €2.35 RRP €11.35 and a Ruby+Millie nail buffer with a voucher. I really want the Soap+Glory butter suite (new in fancy packaging that will look good in my room). That's around €11 with the 1/3 off so I'll possibly buy that this week.
I'm going to a free event on Saturday that has a goody bag and I plan on going to see Alice in Wonderland at the cinema.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000
