OMG!!!! I've just found this thread and read it all. So much of what you say is true. I don't have any debt but i know i'm a shopaholic and a horder
.
A lot of you seem to have specific things you hoard/shop for, like cosmetics, shoes, bags etc and everytime I read what you were saying I realise I hoard everything:(.
I buy things just for the sake of it because i like it. I think one of you guys said it earlier that it started with being very poor when growing up and not being able to afford anything. So now, if i like something I buy it almost as if i'm making up for when i was younger.
I really like the stocktake idea and will attempt that tonight. I think the shock for me came when I moved house and really had to come face to face with all that stuff!

Just make sure you cancel afterwards.
Also try contacting vodafone and asking for feedback as to why you were declined."Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like its heaven on earth." - Mark Twain0 -

hi all
Salesaddict, I'm like you with Ebay, don't use it 'cos had a lot of probs with paypal. I find it must easier not to shop online at all because that way I don't have any temptation.
I think the reason you go into M&S so much is because it's a fixed routine for you to go inside (even with the man there) perhaps you always associate that as a treat before starting work.
I also live alone most of the time (unless kids visit - one's in a care home) and in a village, don't drive and walk for hours everyday - bit of a fitness fanatic. I've also found that no matter how many hours I walk, unless I end up at the shops at some point, I don't feel 'right'. And have to go out a second time.
I rarely go on a trip anywhere because I always found that I was desperate to get back home, plus I'd always buy something to justify being away. If I ever go into the city I HAVE TO got to WH Smiths and buy practically a shelf of mags, the types they don't sell where I live. And don't mention bookshops..........
Today I took a large bag of 10p's out with me- held up the queue in Somerfield counting them out - BARGAIN ALERT - Walker individual bags of crisps were down to 12p.
Then I used the change to buy a book I've always wanted from the charity shop, and a large heart shaped biscuit for myself.0 -
Angela. Could it be the somewhat natural instinct of gathering things whilst there there with the thought of not being able to get these all the time. Like a squirrel with their nuts, does that sound rather stupid?
Can understand the idea of a routine, its very hard to break out of. Especially when you live at home, as it may be your time of the day when you are able to be around people? Sorry if thats wrong.Learning to be 'good with money'0 -

My mum came back with 48 bags of French fries today, from Iceland. They must've been on offer
But anyway... I still haven't taken the coat from Debenhams out of its bag since I bought it. It's like I'm too scared to re-try it on. How silly is that...
edit to add - just tried it. I am taking it back. It's gorgeous but I think the sleeves are too short. I just hope my mother doesn't try to convince me otherwise... she's terrible for doing that!
Ohh and I received the £116 into my bank account for the stuff I returned a few days ago. That was a nice feeling. I'm waiting for another £40 to drop back in there in the next few days, too.0 -
Hi ya, i see all of us are trying hard...
Thanks for the tips, but i have not lost any weight since i had my daughter... that is 2 1/2 years ago !! I am not good with the whole dieting thing, i never diet in my whole life, everytime i seem to say, i will diet... i start eating more.. i am tiny, i used to be a size 8 and now i am a size 12.. i need to loose 2 stones to feel like my old self.
I did tried giving all my stuff away... because not fitting in your old clothes is too deppresing.. but then i do it again, i buy smaller sizes thinking i will fit into them.
I started my personal challenge... i will loose weight, i want to be in the way i used to be in the 1 April ( my wedding aniversary).Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0
