Hi CL
Don't think that you won't get the job even if you've never had an interview before - you might be just what they are looking for.
The shopping hassles are clothing, new glasses -too much indecision, coat, things for the house, shoes. Because I can't get what I need I buy books insteaddoesn't make sense does it LOL
Weekend shopping, wonder what it will bring? Don't get carried away everyone!0 -
That is true. For some reason I'm not even worried about it (yet!) I guess my mind is more on my health, which makes everything else feel trivial - in normal circumstances I wouldn't have even answered my phone
The only problem is that I don't have anything to wear that actually fits me, so tomorrow I'll be going to the shopping centre to find some black ballet pumps, trousers and a reasonably smart top. Will you be shopping tomorrow, too?
Oh, and I have the same dilemma when it comes to glasses. I have my prescription but have a lot of trouble choosing frames - mainly because I don't suit glasses at all.0 -
Hi CL
I know what you mean about things that normally scare us, can seem trivial if there is anything else we are concerned about. I felt like that last weekend when I had to go on a long journey with my parents.
For years I've had a travel phobia and normally I would have got myself into a state about the trip, but instead I was worrying about something else, so the journey went without any problems.
Good luck for finding the appropriate clothes for the interview! I was reading your list and was glad you didn't have heels or something that could cause a problem. I remember going for an exam at a test centre, and my shoes broke on the way
You don't suit glasses. Is that just your opinion or does everyone say it? In my case, I only wear them for tv (or to see a bus number). My dilemma is the last pair I got (similar to all previous) leave green marks as my skin reacts to the metal and I'm scared of it happening again. Plastic doesn't suit me. Mind you it took me over 5 years to get my eyes tested recently, so it could be a while before I get the new glasses bought.
Going shopping. I've never been on a Sunday, where I live everything is shut apart from the supermarket. Plus I'm out most of the day doing family things.
Today I bought a jigsaw and some watercolour paints and groceries. Looked at clothes, disappointed again.
I think I'm going to have to be firm with myself and go elsewhere because it's unlikely I'm going to find anything here. Mind you, I used to get some clothes from the dodgy charity shop (looks like a jumble sale) but it had designer clothes brand new still with tags, dirt cheap e.g .£1 - however it always seems to be shut at the times I'm there.
Have a good weekend.0 -
Wow good luck with the interview CL! Hopefully you can find an outfit that makes you feel comfortable too. i remember going to an interview in kitten mules (i had no clothes don't judge me:p) and finding out that it involved door to door selling of electricity on an estate which we had to walk to. My feel were torn to shreds after a day of that- so much so that when they called the next day for part 2 of the interview i told the to buzz off!:p
Hi Anlgea- i know what you mean about finding nothing locally. i can't find good stuff here except in the 'fat shop' so whenever i go to a bigger town i look in the usual shops and find stuff that is totally different and sometimes in my size- but then i find it doesn't suit me...or don't buy it becasue i'm being sensible.
Get yourself out to somewhere nice and go for it. you keep saying you need clothes. Take a friend maybe- make a day of it.:D
I am actually going to go to church tomorrow so i better get to bed.
Have a nice day:)Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heavenMatthew 5:30 -
Hi,
LOL ziggles - your poor feet! I don't do heels at all so will never have that problem, thankfully.
Well I ended up not buying anything new for the interview... mainly because I didn't see anything that fitted. I dug out a pair of black flats which are a bit big, but should be fine with a polish up and some insoles. Will have to make-do with the trousers, shirt and cardigan that I have, even though they are not ideal.
To be honest, I think I have already given them a bad impression of myself. They called me unexpectedly today and I was a stuttering mess on the telephone. Given that one of the aspects of the job is answering the telephone, I think it's over before it's even begun! Still, we'll see how it goes.
Just have to keep reminding myself that if I do make a fool of myself then I never have to see the interviewer again. Plus the job is in the city, so I can go shopping to console myself after the interview... :S0 -
Hi all
CL sometimes it pays to be pessimistic, because you lose all the pressure if you believe you're going to fail. So the interview could go much better than if you were optimistic and trying to impress and feeling on edge.
It's like those couples that can't conceive and try everything imaginable. When they finally give up, they end up with a baby.
I can imagine that phone call you had. Reminds me of the time a relative arranged a favour from an upmarket financial adviser he knew well to see me. I had been expecting to go into his posh office for the appointment.
However, out of the blue I got a phone call and he was asking me all sorts of financial questions and I had no idea of the answers. He sounded really critical when I said I couldn't remember where ex worked. My mind went totally blank, I could hardly remember my address!
So I then asked him to send the forms, he sounded miffed. I never did return them because there was all sorts of questions I thought were innappropriate to be telling a complete stranger especially as I'd never even met him. I just remembered that the relative wasn't pleased with me either after all that.
Ziggles, oh my, those kitten heels :rotfl:0 -
Hi,
well I went to the interview... it was ok, I got the impression that she didn't like me from the moment I walked in and was baffled by my lack of experience (I could hardly say it was due to years of anxiety issues!) She was really friendly with the girl who went in before me tooThey want me to go back for a 2nd interview and she said I filled out the application really well, so it's not all bad. I made an idiot out of myself though, as she was explaining something and I asked such a stupid question I wanted the ground to swallow me up *CRINGE*
Never mind... at least I went. I could never have done that one year ago.
Had a big of a splurge in town afterwards, mostly stuff that I didn't need. I have been slacking with my spending diary (due to not being well and not caring!) so I have started it again from November. It's not looking good0 -
Well done CL, you've had your first interview.:T0
-
Thanks Anglea. It wasn't as big a deal as I thought it would be... it was quite informal. Maybe next time they'll ask me some more taxing questions?
I really want a job. I was never someone who got bored easily, but something changed over the summer and now I hate not doing anything (though at least before I had college - now I don't have anything). I have applied for all sorts, I guess all I can do is wait and see who bites.
So, do any of you have plans for this weekend? I'm looking forward to I'm a Zeleb to start... sad eh.0 -
Hi all
CL, now the first interview is over, I hope you will feel better about any others.
As for the weekend, I went to a craft fair and ate lunch. A couple sat at the table I knew and a woman I didn't know. She happened to be wearing some nice glasses and I was asking about them, and she gave them to me to try and I asked other people's opinions of what I looked like LOL. Reason is I'm having terrible troubles making a decision about glasses.
Then spent another hour in the massive book sale room ending up with 6. Yes I know, I was supposed to give that up "rollseyes". I'd already bought a couple in the week too
However I was really glad I had decided against the very heavy book on owls that had been beckoning me. I might have even bought it if it wasn't for the fact it was about keeping your own owls
For ages now I'm dreaming about owls, I have seen them in real life at a friend's house (along with eagles) and everywhere I go there are images of them popping out at me. Today there was a wildlife artist, and he had some fantastic owl paintings. Last week at the craft club I was telling my friends about an amazing dream I had about a tree in my front room with owls on the branches, and later looked at someone's new painting they were working on - yes an owl! Very spooky!
Tomorrow - with ex at his family house.
The new I'm a Celebrity - I watched it last year with Katie Price. Not sure if I'll start this year.
I don't tend to watch any tv on a Sunday because I'm out most of the day then have chores to catch up on. I've missed all but 1 episode of Desp. Housewives. probably a good thing too as I think it's a case of overkill with the storylines and I was getting very bored, but in previous years I liked it.
What are you doing Sunday CL in the daytime? What about you Ziggles apart from church?0
