    hi all

CL, I hope that the appt will hurry up for you. I don't know what is wrong of course, but I know that sometimes the GP can say something to make you feel worse.

A few years back I had been very concerned that I couldn't shift any of my weight, no matter what I did. Plus I thought that my neck had swollen. So I had some blood tests done and although they came back normal the GP decided to be thorough and sent me for a scan.

Well it showed something abnormal. So referred me to a specialist. As you can imagine I got into a right old state. However, when I got there, the consultant was incredulous I'd been referred to him and said that the thing on my neck was normal for someone my age and that most women in the clinic would have had it even if they didn't know about it.

A similar scenario happened with my back after I got an x-ray. The results did show something wrong, yet it was explained to me that lots of people have it without knowing and it's not as serious as imagined.

I'm hoping that your problem will have a similar conclusion.

I can empathise with the coat situation. I've been wearing my son's jacket which is long on the sleeves but tight round the tummy LOL. I do have a coat but I nearly ruined it by washing (I can only wear thin coats) and the collar area looks a bit dodgy :(

Your new bag - what will happen in the rain?

    Where are you allllllllll? :(

Thanks Anglea - I hope so, too. I guess the worst is that noone can tell me what the problem is, so naturally my mind wanders to all sorts of conclusions (most of them pretty bad!)

Anyway, onto nicer subjects! I'm now the proud owner of a new coat, but it's not from Next. It's from Dorothy Perkins. Can't believe I'd ever have the problem of a size 8 being roomy, but it is :o

I'm frantically applying to jobs too... doubt I will hear back about any of them, but I figure I have nothing to lose. For some reason I feel very determined at the moment and not much makes me feel anxious anymore. I really would love to be working by next year. If only someone would give me a chance.

eta - as for the bag, I'm one step ahead of you! I carry a big plastic bag inside of the bag, so if it rains I can put it inside the carrier bag :)

    Hi all

CL, I'm still here, can't get rid of me LOL

My goodness, a size 8 :T That's amazing. Although I know you wouldn't have wished to lose weight this way but it must be very nice to have a new coat. That's funny about bringing a plastic bag for your other bag :)

So are you looking for a job instead of college now?

It was a gale and rain down here and I went up the shops with a rain jacket under my coat, but I couldn't chance getting drenched. I was looking around at clothes and was thinking that all mine are yukky now and I fancy a total change. I don't remember the last time I bought any - of course I have to blame Salesaddict for starting this thread! Ever since I joined I've only bought books not clothes.

I've been very naughtly lately and stopped most of my long walks and I was very addicted to Doritos so managed to put on weight. So now I'm brushing my teeth with a minty paste whenever I get an urge to eat and it's working. I hope to be back to normal before Christmas because the skirts I was wearing lately were too tight  so I've only got one comfie one that's suitable for this weather.

Ziggles how are you? NGlady, another update please.

    And everyone else too.
  • Hi Anglea,

No, I'm looking for an apprenticeship related to the thing that I'm studying, in the hope that they will also pay for the final year of my qualification. If I don't find anything then I'll still be going back to college in January to study it independently. I've applied to over 20 jobs so far this week but I realise it'll probably take a long time to find something in this climate, so don't expect to hear anything anytime soon.

You must be in a totally different part of the country to me, as it's been warm and rain-free here for a few days now. Not much opportunity to wear my coat!

I like your toothbrushing tactic. I was mad on Doritos a while ago as there was a competition where you won a voucher for free crisps and dip! The Doritos sour cream dip is lovely but soooo fattening. I had a steak for my breakfast today. I don't know why but I really fancied it.

Not sure what I'm going to do today... Bit late to go shopping, so will probably end up going to the cinema with my mum & sisters.

    Hi CL

Hope you enjoyed your steak. I suppose it's not that much different from eating bacon, kidneys or black pudding  (shudders) for breakfast.

Good luck with your job hunting, it would be good to get out of the financial burden if you can for the last year.

Doritos, I've never had any of the dips probably a good idea not to try it.

Hope you enjoy your film if you go to the cinema.

When I went out, I couldn't find any clothes that were suitable (story of my life) plus I felt a bit aggrieved about some people that work in an establishment I frequented for years and used to really enjoy, especially as they staff were really friendly it was like a big happy family with customers and staff.

However just lately, some of the staff have been telling me conflicting stories about a certain topic. Today, one of them again told me a different version of events to a few weeks back. So this started playing on my mind while I was wondering round Iceland LOL and I ended up returning and asking why they are making things up. Of course I was getting denials etc. I was on the verge of saying we must all live in parallel universes but decided it wasn't worth getting into an argument. Anyhow, I've now decided to stop going there. :(
  • Hi guys!
I'm still here. Had anotehr weekend away not very far but with a friend her husband and 2 kids. It was so lovely to be part ofa a 'real' family. They even started calling me 'Auntie' i love it. Not a fan of kids- but for these two i make the exception. It's a friend i communicate with and visit erratically but we've been pals for 8 years but recently we've been more constant.
i've been feeling pretty carp laletly but the weekend helped and also have another weekend booked for november in Glasgow. somehitng to look forward to.
CL i hope you have some luck soon. don't let the economy thing get you down. Perseverance pays off, no matter what!
anglea i like the brushing teeth thing. I have lost appetite lately which is good but i am of yogurt which i love and is my only milky/calcium intake and fruit and veg so that's annoying.
spending out of control keeping money in moneybags and not remembering what it's for- random purchases. Not keeping up with stuff- i'm a mess but hopefully get back on traack for next payday on 12th:o

otherwise that's me- hope you're all chugging along and keeping well.
    Have a good week!

  • Hi folks,

Anglea, those people sound horrible... but if it was a shop you enjoyed looking in, I wouldn't let them put you off going there.

Ziggles - you're right, it's easy to get disheartened when all you get is job refusals. Feels like I'm either over or underqualified for everything I apply for!

I'm in a 'clearing out' mood at the moment. I've added a few bits to Gumtree... also put some stuff on ebay last weekend but noone has bid. My starting prices were probably a tad overambitious but it was free listing day so I didn't lose anything. I also have sooooo much stuff to return, it's ridiculous. Why do I do this?!!
  • Hi All

I've been really naughty this week
I confess to buying- 2 rollnecks tops, a jersey dress, control leggings, and a headband...all at Primarni! for a cool £31:o
Yes i know- i shouldn't have but i was away for work today and i had an hour to kill so... I also got some leave in conditioner for £10.50 which is pretty good cos i bought the last lot for £13 and it really works.
I also bought some perfume this weekend £17.50 but i was looking for it for ages (Arran Aromatics fresh fig) and my bro's g/friend got me a 35% discount
I am feeling like i've totally fallen off the wagon and can't stop.:mad:
I'm self-sabotaging- i'll never move out or get debts sorted at this rate:(

    Hi all

CL I've been having 'return withdrawals' as NGlady hasn't been posting lately, so thanks for mentioning them again :rotfl:

    Has anything sold yet?

Hi Ziggles, do you want a telling off? :D

Looking at your clothing list, I think they are all outfits you probably need for the winter. Conditioner, well I know about your hair, so again it's necessary. Perfume. Figs? That's unusual. Only you know the answer if that was a good buy or not.

I think I've got the reverse problem now to being a shopaholic, it's a refuse to buy what is necessary because it's too much hassle :(

    Hi all...

ziggles: don't feel too bad, sometimes it's good to treat yourself to something new. Your list doesn't seem all that frivalous to me - at least you got a good deal on most things, especially the perfume.

anglea: I'm glad someone appreciates hearing about my returns. I drive my poor mum mental :o What is it that you need... new clothes? I know what you mean about hassle though - there are certain things that I hate shopping for.

I have some news... I've been jobhunting for exactly one week and have an interview next week for a job somewhere I'd love to work. It's literally the best job from all of the ones I have applied for. I'm pretty certain that I won't get it as I've never even had an interview before, but still... just the fact that they considered me is a positive :)
