Got back from a day out with friend including a drink and didn't spent much at all. We did go through the shops and I tried a coat in Debenhams and then M&S later but both weren't quite right so I didn't buy either.
I know what some of you are saying re losing the buzz that shopping used to give me. Now, I sometimes feels quite guilty buying things even so I can afford them. I think I need to get over that and get a balance where I can spend if I need or really want something, but just do not shop to excess.
I have recently decluttered and brought lots of clothes to charity so I do have some space in my wardrobes now, which is a good feeling. Like others I have some really beautiful clothing that is to small at the moment or things I have bought to slim into (some of them over a year old:o).0 -
Kitty, I love those shoes too. Makes sence that they have to hand them back lol, My dad will kill me for telling an open forum this, but when they do the handing back of the shoes thing he cried first time and does still get emotional!?! lol, he goes outside when that bits on lol.
Material girl - have you been through a phase of your life where you can't afford things? I am just wondering that because you are still in the mindset of not being able to afford. I am similar, yesterday I really wanted some shoes from Faith - there my fav shop and there closing down - but even though I loved them and I had the money I couldn't make myself take a pair to the till and hand over £44 :S
Theres nothing wrong with this mindset, but, I presume you work very hard in your job/studies so you do need a treat otherwise it will just become urgh, for you again I would go back to the money tin, put a small amount in each day then after a month crack it open and SPLURGE!!! Perhaps go shopping when you havnt got the money as as everybody knows you always see things when you cant afford the things lol and write down what you would like to buy
Something you girls will learn, I type for England (lol) And my messages are often like mini biographys. Imagin if I cant stop rambeling on on here, no wonder I work in sales is there, and often my friends tell me to shut up haha.
Angela, im a dress girl
Im a little shortie 5ft3 but I often wear long tops :S I have a wierd body haha. I love the idea of a little flowery dress and cardy maybe even lace blazer if the dress I get is quite plain
Yep, he did put his medic hat on though haha. The number of medicines he recommended for me yesterday :S

Hi all
NGlady I got worried when I read about your Dad and the shoes because I had no idea what you were talking about and wondered if I'd missed out a few pages of posts - so now you'll know I don't watch Dorothy.
You're right I need a spending diary, always seem to forget about it.
Lucky you with sun, it's grey and looks like rain for me.0 -

That's a good point actually, quite a long time ago I was actually quite "poor" and couldn't afford anything other then rent and food etc as I was in a low paid job. I have since then completed my studies and have had a few well paid jobs and I have established a good career for me now and really should not have to worry about the occassional blow out.
I think though that I have still this feeling of uncertainty in me worrying about things I'd like to achieve longterm financially and not having the money to do so.
So, I seem to sway between being very careful with money to binge shopping!
I really like your idea of having a tin to put money away in and then just spending that once a month with a list of things I want:T0 -
HI all,
Things are moving on again; got an interview this week for a supervisors' job at Primark; the hours are perfect for uni; if I get the job I will offer to do any extra work required during holiday periods so I get some money to stash but if I do not get the job I am going to ask them to consider me for a sales assistant position. WIsh me luck as I really need and want this job!!0 -
FE - Good luck with the interview. Also good luck with not falling into the routine of buying one of everything that comes in stock, I hear primark staff get half price discount!!!Learning to be 'good with money'0

No danger of that...I do love the ladies' boxer shorts and the nightwear but I don't really wear much clothing from there other than the cashmere. Besides, I genuinely want to not spend money and save it towards other uses and the future, such as leaving town, such as buying a flat, such as learning to drive, seeing the world and doing a masters' degree. I so hope I get this job though!!0 -
Ive never seen any cashmere in primark? Is it any good?

:(I dont think primark staff get any discount as they say its already a discounted store:( i could be wrong though
Ive made £73.00 on ebay so far :T Lots of items still listed too.
Feel totally skint at the moment though as all my money is being used to overpay cc.
Havent bought anything today even with the money lying in my paypal so this is a BIG achievement for me:j I usually see paypal as not real money so its ok to spend it. Maybe thats how i run up so much on ccs because its not real money either:mad: Well it is when you have to pay it back:mad:0
