  • That's great news NGlady. Well done for avoiding the Debenham sale. I know you love Debenhams. I'm trying to avoid it as well.

    Hi all

    Congrats NGlady on the interview.

Well done for NSD's - verynewmsvr.

Morocha - re the 'wee' I had a musical potty for mine.

Today only bought normal groceries, went to EAustin but the queue was too long to even attempt as I was in a hurry so might try again later in the week,

Supersmith - I'm glad you realised that treating yourself was going to cause problems in the long run and you have a different outlook on money and NSD's.

Polly - just a manicure or painted nails as well?

http://www.spendingdiary.com/ I am now using this site to record my spends. Felt fed up yesterday and was about to hit the shops, but decided to visit a friend instead. Had a good chat and felt much better.

Many Thanks. This is by far the best online diary I've used. In fact, it's even better than my "writing diary" :D.

This thread is so good. I don't feel so alone, knowing that there's there's other people that feel (and spend) like I do. I was raving about Paula Begouin's book Don't Go To The Cosmetic Counter Without Me on another thread and I've also joined her website http://www.beautypedia.com/ (I got a special offer to subscribe to it for a year for only £12!).
It has been such a breakthrough. Everytime I felt like buying a beauty product I jump onto her website first and as soon as I see that it had low reviews or was not on her list of best products, I go off it!
Shame it doesn't work for food! I could be saving lbs and well as £'s :rotfl:

Steerpiker, Glad you don't feel so alone :)
I tried the online dairy but for some reason it just didnt feel quite as "real" as actually collecting all of my receipts and doing it pen on paper.
VNMS - we shall share well behaved vibes whilst the sale is on. Only thing I am going to go on the website for is, I want to check the dresses ive brought that have got tags on and still got receipts for to check they havnt gone down too much in the sale :)

I used to treat myself once a month or so to a full manicure at my local salon (£20) but have now discovered that I can get a reshape and varnish for only £5. The end result is the same - ok I have to put on my own handcream but hey, what a saving.;) It means I can have four treats for the price of one if I wanted to - I tend to keep them for special occasions and it really does feel like I've been pampered.

£5 for a polish and nail reshape is great value :) I think thats a lovely price for a lovely little pick up, I mean a mcdonalds you dont get much change from and you feel lovely doing it :) Wish it was so cheap here, i had a french polish done a few times on my own nails they wanted £9 to do the polish bit and a fiver to reshape :S lol.

I've never ever had a manicure before so no idea how much it costs here :S Which reminds me, I really want a barbie pink nail polish. It's probably the only colour that I don't have! I think I'll have a look in Boots tomorrow (I have vouchers).

Today was a MSD for me - £1.10 on a drink, and that was all. Also went with my mum to buy a large household item and managed to haggle the guy down by 25% :D My mum and I make a good team... lol.

Morning all - I'm still doing well on the not spending. Being unemployed has definitely put the brakes on! Have been grocery shopping but nothing else. Off to do a mystery shop later today - and then to a yoga class, so hopefully I will resist temptation.
Haveanyof you tried https://www.mycitydeal.co.uk? It's very good for buying the occassional 'treat' from. I bought 2 cineworld tickets for £1 each - and a spa day that should have been £100 for £25.
Have a good day all. LCxxx

Yes, I agree my local salon is great value for money. There are so many salons where I live that they've started to get more competitive which is great news for customers. I still keep it as a treat though, as it's hard to justify pampering when there are so many other demands on your cash these days! I've got £10 to last til Friday (payday) - don't know if I'll make it. Have dinner sorted for next couple of days but have 3 kids and each one needed extra money this morning for stuff at school - charity donations each time. All well and good but don't think they give any consideration to family budgets when they tell kids to 'bring in money tomorrow' for x y or z.
