  • Morning all. I only managed to list 2 things on ebay last night - MUST do better next time ;)
Went shopping yesterday and bought a lightweight parka from New Look, I really needed it though as I have 4 winter coats and a denim jacket. I never seem to be able to find jackets that I like.
I also (finally) got some new sunglasses as I'm off on holiday in a couple of weeks. I worked out my previous sunnies were 5 years old!!! EEk! My OH owed me £100 and he paid the other £25 towards them too, so it was kinda like not paying anything for them. I bought him a coffee in return ;)
So back to no spending for me again, to be honest I haven't felt in the mood for the last couple of weeks. Maybe the shock of losing my job. Who knows?!?!
    Save me from spending...

That's nothing LC, my FCUK sunnies that I use for driving (cos they are smaller) I've had for over 10 years! The leg has just fallen off but planning on getting them fixed as they cost me £65! Maybe I should treat myself to new ones eh!
  • :T:jwell today...i have cleared my credit card off!!!:j so i have a nice £0 balance...and as i cut it up and didn't jot my details down that's another one bit the dust :)
and £50 to another debt! skint until friday now so all week will be a nsd for me-enforced tho...but i think that's better for me, as if i have cash i just have to spend it-i've never had any savings at all...i can't believe my attitude to money, it's scary, OH is exactly the opposite to me as well, has shares and isas and stuff...puts me to shame :(

had a total panic attack yeterday, i've gone up a size :(:(:( i know it's due to the crap i eat...so i've started doing a slimming world plan today...i aim to go down 3 dress sizes...it's achievable and wouldn't leave me underweight or in the remote part skinny lol BUT i'd love to be the size i was before i had kids...i wouldn't moan now(like i did then)! 'teen' sizes are a distant memory:mad:

I've totally whinged to OH that i've 'got nothing to wear' as nothing fits very well...OH quite rightly told me that once i had paid my debts off and lost the weight i aim to loose i'll need a whole new wardrobe then anyway so pointless blowing a massive amount on clothes...

He's also promised to give me £200 if i lose the weight towards some new clothes in the autumn.:D i'll be debt free then and hopefully of saved a bit so can splash out lol...that thought alone is my goal now...lovely new clothes:rotfl::o

How are you all doing? I will catch up on posts later. x
Hoping to of finally learned my lesson...slowly but surely

Well, back from town - can't really report a very good day to be honest. I got to town an hour early for my Job centre thing, and walked round town.

I have been thinking, for a couple of days now, what if I get invited to this "asda magic" day I am going to be on my feet for at least 2 hours and I don't really have anything smart enough thats comfortable, so i've brought some shoes. These shoes are exactly like my mums, and she has worn hers most days for a year and finds them very comfortable. So I think an investment £7.99 from Jonathan James. Does anybody else find Jonnos really expensive now?! I remember them being cheap as chips as a kid, well even chips are expensive now lol.

    Brought More magazine £0.99

Had a lovely jacket potato and a drink £2

    Bus fare £2.50

Total £13.48 which I now class as looooads but in the past it wouldnt have really been much to think about. Already this means i've only got £6.52 for tomorrow.

Velocity - your other half is very right. How about, getting a nice mini tin that you cant open easily, setting urself your daily/weekly allowances and anything that isn't spent put in this tin. Then in the Autumn, you can open it up that odd 10p etc really does add up and you could really spoil yourself :)

Well done on paying your card off, its a lovely feeling.

I think this is a pure example of my throw money away attitude. When you ladies we're naming books to buy earlier you named "In the red by alexis hall" I brought this as im trying to get a collection of books together for my hol - then the day after, I thought i saw another book being recommended, it was the same one. I've just cheked my amazon and ive brought the same book TWICE! Its only £2.76 but its an example of my waste of money attitude!

  • You could sell the other one, perhaps on Greenmetropolis. I swapped mine on Readitswapit. Losts of people seemed to want it. I forgot I also put it on Bookmouch so got a bad mark from them as I'd already swapped it. Going to take the M&S pencil skirt back as too tight. However bought a padded waistcoat in Asda sale to wear under my mac on colder days. Thought it would be handy but I should have stuck to my 2 week challenge.

    Hey all,

Well a mixed weekend - am thinking about money more...
Thurs - MSD:j only bought fruit 40p to go with lunch from home
Fri - had a wedding to go to. Am very proud to report that I did manage to dress myself entirely from my wardrobe! :j Travel £35 (in budget), drinks and taxis £15 (under budget)
Sat - £10 on pub lunch, snacks
Sun - met up with a couple of friends so coffees £4, had to wait around so bought a book from charity shop £2.50 but managed to get free lunch with boots advantage points! So total £6.50 which wasn't bad as I was thinking about all my spends and ways to spend less.
Today - NSD :j Am going to my exercise class later but I'm sticking to my 'exercise class purse' which has all my money for classes for the month in it, so not from main spends.

    welcome rrachel and polly
velocity girl - well done on paying off your credit card!!
nglady - well done on setting yourself a weekly budget, good luck with sticking to it!
completely lost and morocha, I'm inspired by tales of your NSDs - hope to follow in your footsteps!

Although also inspired by tales of holidays girls! :rotfl:

Am still (with slightly gritted teeth now) sticking to not buying any clothes, shoes or accessories for the rest of march... but I am building up a mental list of what I'd like to buy come payday! Now this won't help me save money! I find if I deny myself then I want to splash out even more!! Any hints or tips to prevent me spending ALL my wages on the first of april???????????

Hi ya supersmith.... I do find aswell if i stop myself from buying then from time to time i over spend... i think the solution to this should be to choose something that we really want ej. nice hols, a nice handbag.. a dress... if we put this into our mind, and the fact that if we save enough we can have it instead of just buying things cos they are cheap even tho they do not fit/look that nice on us..(clothes or shoes) we should go for quality instead of quantity. I do want some nice leather shoes ( my oh will pay for them) but at the moment i keep looking as i want a really nice pair. Also having bank accounts,1 for bills and other for personal use do help. i have an envelope with my passport for holiday money too.

I had managed to have another NSD (weather helped) Booked holidays to Spain in April and managed not to go to Matalan to see their beautiful things cos i do want to sort out what i really need first, i want a nice wardrobe where i can mix and match. So at the moment i have managed to save £100 in cash, my bank account is looking great and i am having £200 from Quidco in 2 weeks !:j

Help!! Talk me out of this!! Got the Boden catalogue at the weekend and saw a lovely dress that I could wear to a wedding on 22 May priced £69 so not too bad. However, they are doing a Buy 3 get 4th free deal and I'm sorely tempted to buy 3 more items just to eBay, maybe helping to recoup the cost of the dress. Boden stuff is greatly sought after on eBay but I've promised myself not to do this until the weekend so still on hold at the moment. What do you think?
