Have just found this thread and it's just what I needed. It's comforting to know that so many people have the same problem because I just feel out of control with my spending. I'm spending way more than I earn every month but because I buy (mostly) for others, I don't feel the same guilt that I would if I was just buying for myself. Having said that, I've got loads of stuff (way way too much) and would love to start eBaying but can't seem to get motivated as lots of it is BNWT but I know I'll get next to nothing on eBay for it. Any help appreciated
Polly, I think you really need to set aside an afternoon over the next few days (not too far away) and just do it!! I know that sounds like obvious advice, but I think if you set a goal you're much more likely to do it.
Also, although you may only get £1 an item (minimum) if you sell 20 items you'll get £20 and although that might not seem like much it's better than nothing, which is what you currently have for stuff just sitting around taking up space.
I'm currenly waiting for the next free listing day on eBay, but I've set aside this Saturday afternoon for a friend to come over and take some pictures of all the things I need to sell, because at least that's a startxx

Hi girlies,
Anglea have to say you're right about all the time spent shopping. It used to be a proper hobby for me and I would devote HOURS to it. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hi everyone... welcome home to all the newbies
!#
I did not report yesterday... i took DD to the doctor so spent £2 and today another £2 cos i really had to go to the bank to put money in....
I was so good last week that today i bought a Clinique powder on ebay, yes i know.. it only cost £10 but all my stuff dont do anything for my skin and i decided to give Clinique a go.... So i am all set up with skincare and make up...
Challenge 1* No more Clinique till next month.
Challenge 2* loose some weight, only 2 weeks left for my anniversary
Challenge 3* Start running in the mornings
Challenge 4* take dd out EVERY day for a walk... anything really.
Money spent so far £4 on bus fare...
£10 in treats ( Clinique) and it should stay this way.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
Morocha, hope you dont mind me saying . . . .
You are doing pretty wellThats only an average of £7 per day. I know its still a considerable amount, however back a few months ago would you have been spending more than this per day, I think you probably would?
And possibly, after a hard week of being good and watching every penny, a treat is something that you need to spur yourself on to be good rest of the time
LadyV I know im bad with snacking there too - always end up on that sweetie stand lol.Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
thanks nglady, yes i am watching every penny and i start to feel bad with my spending...but no more treats this week, if i survive tomorrow, i can do it, as on thursday i am going swimming(free) and on friday we spend the day with nana... so it sounds like i will only spend £3.20 on bus fare then i am done till friday.
MY week should be then £7.20 bus fare £10 treats..Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -

Hi all,
Posted ages ago but only just finished reading the whole thread! I have a feeling everyone (myself included) have addictive personalities, whether it be for clothes, crisps or biccies! I can easily eat an entire pack of biscuits or half a dozen packs of crisps in the one day, the only way to stop myself is not to have them in the house. No matter how desperate I am for chocolate or crisps, if I'm settled in for the night I won't go out and buy them. Same with shopping, I stay away from shops then binge when I do go. I constantly buy then return things.
Oh and I read magazines back to front too! Don't buy them though, OH gives me his freebie mag from his newspaper!0 -
Welcome back Swinstie
Who was it that mentioned eating out? I managed to give up a 6 days a week habit last year only because the closing times of the caff changed otherwise I'd still be there now.
Please help me out - what does LBM mean?0 -
