The only illness you ever get where your friends actively invite you over! Not in the hope they'll catch it, but safe in the knowledge while it takes hold of you, you will clean everything in site!
Slowly removing the charity shops stuff from hallway to car - in that I'm taking down as much as I can carry each time I go to the car.
I eventually made it into the bank today! Niccatw in "stroppy" mode:
Niccatw: Is there a particular reason I can't transfer money from my current account to my online account?
Teller: You can't transfer money to your loan.
Niccatw: It's in the terms and conditions that I can overpay. I'd like to transfer the money now please.
Teller: I can't do that at the touch of a button. I need instruction from you.
Niccatw: Instruction? You mean, like me asking you to do it?
Teller: I need written insruction.
Niccatw: I need to write you a letter?
Teller: Yes
Niccatw: You really don't make it easy do you! [Note This is the bit where Niccatw is being stroppy!!!
]
Teller: (Prints off a statement, writes on it how much I would like to transfer and asks me to sign it, though tells me she needs to check with a customer services advisor, who knows what she was if not that, before it goes through.)
I didn't have the energy to ask if I could pay £600 of my second job cheque (which is payable as cash) to that same loan!
Seriously. How hard can it be? I'm pretty sure she did, in the end, do it at the touch of a button! Banks! :mad:
And I'm clearly far too polite to be a stroppy moo! Need to work on that a bit! Or even, at least work on the evil eye!
Anyway, that means today, £2,500 should be transferred to my RBS loan account (in case you are just reading this and wondering where I conjured up that kind of money, most of it was from and Inland Revenue overpayment), bringing that total down to somewhere around the 6K mark. But I'll update it properly when I see it in the statment with my very own eyes! :cool:

Sorry I've been gone so long. I knocked myself out in a cold faint*! Once I'd exhausted my stock of smelling salts I began furiously recalculating to double, triple and quadruple check... but I did keep getting the same figure... when I added up my repayments once I'd double checked the current balances and updated my signature, I have paid off a staggering
£10,300.49. :eek: :j:eek::eek::j:j:eek::eek::eek::j:j:j
I can't really type what I comes to mind here as all you'd see were a line of exclamation marks! If I can keep that up, then I'd easily knock (at least) a year off my debt free date (some time in 2014!).
D'ya reckon the Inland Revenue will send me any more helpful cheques??? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
PS Now would be a good time to admit to booking a night at Crieff Hydro (posh spa hotel) on my credit card. However, it was only £89 for two of us for the night on a Groupon deal, a saving of £115. The credit card was only used as I prefer it when I buy anything over £50 online. And the money is already in my account to transfer over.
We even get a free game of golf, should we wish to take them up on it (Jacuzzi/golf? Jacuzzi/golf? Jacuzzi/golf? I can see that might be a tough choice!!!

This is my third attempt at posting this! Clearly I should be asleep!
I've updated my total on Lemon Tree's thread How much have we cleared in 2010? Collectively forumites have paid £986,616.22 off their debts, so far! Lemon tree, have you PM'd Martin the link? I'm sure he love to put it in the newsletter, especially as by the next newsletter it's bound to have reached the million mark! :jJan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

:j:T:j Wow Nicca :j:T:j
Well done you, a whole year off your DFD is some achievement
And a deal on Crieff Hydro to celebrate? How could you refuse? And you have the money to pay straight off your credit card?
I would say you are doing an awful lot right on this debt free journey of yours, managing to continue reducing and having a life is a good thing

hi,
we've hit the million mark on that thread now! which is amazing. What's more amazing was Martin has already added it to his weekly email a couple of weeks ago when it was at 600k, maybe he'll do it again now it's over a million.
sounds like you had a lovely adventure at the bank, i want to close a current account shortly but i just can't face having to go in and make an appointment with a customer advisor just to do that. I mean how hard do they have to make these things?0 -
LT - They only want you in there so that they can try and sell you something else! Stand firm and say NO :rotfl:
Amazing total on your thread by the way :T It certainly adds up in 12 months doesn't it
