It is amazing how a little thing can focus your mind on your life and its pros and cons indeed. The trick it to recognise when you are using the "pros" to stop you from doing something good even if they outweigh the cons. In my case the pros definitely outweighed the cons but it took some doing to make the decision.
I very rarely go to the Dr so by the time I do I am usually over the worst of whatever it is. Good for you insisting on blood tests, thats another thing that I never insist on really.
So....... why haven't you applied for the dream job yet then? Is the the sentence "Ive to all the professional manager on Monday short of a word or two? If so good luck with the call. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Yes it's short of a letter! Sesame street brings you the letter "c". Put it where you will.
Ostensibly it's because I haven't written the big bit yet! The call to the professional manager will tell me what I need to know re. support, access to training etc. They work very differently to Scotland and even the rest of England from what I can gather - and the NHS changes in England make it possibly even more unpredictable than where I currently am....
It's a good opportunity and I need to go for it. But there's a lot more to consider than just the job if I'm to move to the other side of the country. Especially if you're potentially moving to somewhere where half the population is retired and you are a single girl. Not of retiral age. I may be a lot of things, but that pesky moral conscience get's in the way of a lot, including gold-digging. :rotfl:
I can't deny for all my ranting about my job, it's not the actual job I hate. There are lots of good things that I am right in the middle of and do I really want to walk away from them? I'm not sure.
Mind you, this week I have been doing what I love with some-one who is highly respected in the field. Which may have misted my judgement. One of the trainees saught me out to tell me she just had to say how much she appreciated me being there this week and how approachable and smiley I was and that I put people at ease naturally without saying anything or even knowing that was the effect I was having. Which is possibly the biggest complement I have had ever - and certainly within my career! It took all my concentration just to say thank you and not be flippant! That's the reason I do what I do and it's great to know that people do appreciate it!
Yes, I'll walk away from my operational manager, supervisor and the bureaucracy without a backward glance. I'll walk away from my professional boss with a wave of the hand and a thanks very much.
But should I? People like that will be wherever I go. What about the others? And the time it's taken to build up that trust and those relationships?
Or am I letting the fear talk? I doubt I will know until I hit submit on the form and let the rest run it's natural course!
Pyscho, how are your ears? Are you still off flying duties? I hate putting the drops in my ears. It's like deliberately blocking them up with water and who wants to do that? Pah! But at least it no longer feels like a couple of bouncy balls stuck in my ears, that have air escaping out of them!
Money transferred to bills account. There's currently £585.00 sitting waiting to go to NRock. I decided the easiest way to overpay to this debt is to collect the money in the bank account I use least so I can still round down my other accounts. I definitely think it was those little amounts here and there that helped me pay off what I did last year, so it's important I keep that up. At the end of each month I'll call NRock and transfer the amount. Which, on the 1st Feburay should be sitting at under 1k. But the interest rate on the NRock confuses me as it's linked to my mortgage and I don't know when they work it out.

You should be proud, that was a lovely thing to say to you and well done for not making a flippant comment (I am very bad at doing that). Having spent time with you I know exactly where she is coming from :T

Yep, you can find difficult people anywhere, but you can also find wonderful people in places too. Until you are actually working there you won't know - even at interview people are on best behaviour and don't tend to show their real selves. How does the saying go? You are doing brilliantly with this debt busting, and your system works for you, so just keep on keeping on!Butti - it's snowing in Glasgow tonight! Bring your woolies! And some tins of soup, in case we need to bunker down for the long haul.

Just apply and you will know later if you want to withdraw it or do that old positives /negatives list.
SNOW. I bloody know! Who ordered that? I'm wearing a smart dress, tights and shoes. No woolly boots, no thermals! Seriously, I thought someone upstairs was being nice delivering me a missionary with money for a week or two, but this is really making me work for it!

Hola!
It's a Saturday Spotify day... which can mean only one thing; Nicca is cleaning! (Or moving around the clutter anyhoo).
My flatmate is certainly unfathomanable (sp?). He said nothing to my saying I had a bunch of estate agents lined up to come and look at the flat and it's potential rental value to rent out should I be offered a job outwith Glasgow.
When I'm cleaning the bathroom, he asks if minds if he uses the shower (presumably not whilst I continued to clean around him!). When I point out I have sprayed it with cleaner, he informs me he only wants to do his hair.
When I'm cleaning the kitchen, he starts to make his lunch.
Sometimes I wonder if these things are his way of initiating communication!!!
I bought a few "me" things yesterday. In the sale, obviously. A yoga DVD since I am finding it hard to make my classes regularly and I'm rubbish at doing my own home practice (apart from shoulderstand, which I love) and a book. I have a feeling I should have bought a duplicate of the book MrsMoo! I'll let you know when it gets here! The other wee thing was a yoga puzzle book for my mum. £18 in total (incl postage). Then I remembered I had £25 credit on a credit card I don't use... so effectively, I didn't spend a thing. Yay!
For those of you reading this and debt-busting, would you like to add how much you paid off in 2011 to this thread In 2010 we culmativley paid off over one million! I couldn't see the thread this year so started it off, but much later than usual, so we are lagging way behind the usual totals. Do post it wherever else you regularly post too... (I only really pop on to my diary these days as time was just disappearing from my days and I couldn't undestand who was stealing it. Turns out it was MSE and fb between them!)
Oh MrsMoo, another quote I saw... "If I can have free range eggs and a free range turkey, why can I have a free Range Rover..." Not quite as profound as the other one, but again, I thought of you.

I have to apply for it yet Happy
I've to phone the professional manager on Monday, so I'll work out the lie of the land then. (For those of you who are wondering just how many managers there are in the NHS... me too!!!! I've spoken to the manager for the clinical area in which I work - who can be of any profession. Now I need to speak to the manager of my profession. My profession is broken in to different clinical areas and I will be the only one of my profession in that clinical area, so I want to find out what support and training is available professionally to that clinical area. Clear as mud? I thought so.
) (I should probably also say that there is no closing date. Not a great thing for a proscrastinator, I'm sure you know!)
I may have taken the cleaning a step or several too far... cleaned out the herbs and spices and tea bags! Many of which were incredibly out of date. Despite that, not so many of them did I want to bin! What is the generally consensus on these things? They are dried after all!
The garam masala has lived here for as long as I have and we get on and I do spinkle in lots of things, but it is technically expired. As is the rosemary and the yeast. Methinks I might be clearing out for the long haul. Do I want to move the rosemary to the other end of the country, probably not. The crushed chillies on the other hand...Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55
