:( Sad about the funeral and he must be feeling bereft on his own now after all those years together. Don't even know him but could you give him an extra squeeze from me :(

Glad you recovered quickly from your little stroll :rotfl:

    Big hugs back

Sounds like time for the midnight oil and a dose of caffeine, Nic. Hope it goes well. I know (from experience!) that it's actually possible to get a really good mark for something written entirely at the last minute - it kind of concentrates the mind!

That's so sad about the couple who've been all those years together. :( I hope you can have a relaxing week otherwise though.

Hey all :) Guess who finally has a new laptop - no more straining my neck and eyes running the old girl through the TV! Scariest thing is that after taking cashback into account, the new one has cost me about half what the old one did, but is ten times more powerful and probably at about the same point on the futureproofing/tech features scale as the old girl was in her day. Not that I'm complaining about finding an area where your money actually goes further these days compared with seven years ago! :j

Well done on the marathon, Nicca! I'm truly impressed - that is a phenomenal achevement. Make sure you pin an appropriate photo on your Wall of Positivity, now :T Just think, if you can do that, a measly old presentation has GOT to be a doddle ;)

All assessments and assignments completed to deadline (midday on the dot)! The assessments I know have passed. Just waiting on the marks for both assignments. I think they were better than what I have previously handed in so here's hoping I don't have to redo these ones!

However, can I suggest not completing an entire module for a post grad in 24 hours when you have 3 months in which to do it!!! ;)

Have had a very busy and melancholic weekend. Though did get to meet one of the many babies of one of my many cousins for the first time and what a cutie he was. :D

I have a cold. That's what happens when you burn the mignoght oil too much. And then you slow down a bit! So I'm going to curl up on the sofa now!

Still loads to catch up on so may go for a wander around now.

    Take care all.

I don't know whether it is working too hard that has given you your cold Nic. All the kids seem to get colds the first week back at school. I have one caught from my neice.

I wouldn't have to work so hard if I just paced myself better! :D But since I haven't learned how to pace myself in the last 18 years and mostly always handed stuff in at the last minute (interestingly other than for the course I needed for my current career - ok, perhaps not that interesting :rotfl:), it's unlikely I'll change so I'll have to acept it and learn to panic less about something I know I'm going to do! :o

Is it bad I've hidden the remote control from my flat mate because I want to watch He's Not That Into You? (Which I know is bad, but a bit of nonesne will be good for me :p). Only right now I'm lulling him into a false sense of security because there's something on about samuri warriors! :rotfl:

Not bad at all. We are thinking about taking in a lodger Nic. There is a chronic shortage of Uni accommodation here where I live (made the national news) so we were thinking about it. In fact we have started to decorate the bedroom ready. The Uni are very keen. What advice/pitfalls would you flag up?

I'm watching 'He's just not that into you'. My lodger's gone to bed.

I'd say be clear on your rules and payments and when you want them. The most important thing is to interview them, maybe check references and go with your instinct. I met about 5 before I took in my lodger.

The Shelter website has lots of useful advice and templates for rental agreements, so I'd definitely have a look at that.

I find not having my own space the most difficult thing - now. I didn't notice it at first. So I think you and MrC need to be clear what you want from lodging. By which I mean give yourselves some clear guidelines also. Have a timeline in mind either for the length of time you're prepared to do it, or, if that's not practical, when you will review whether it is working for you all.

Be clear on what's important to you both in terms of having your own space, your interests, what type of person you are willing to share your home with...

My lodger is great from the point of view that he is quiet and keeps to himself. But he hardly cleans and it would never occur to him to take down the binbag I've put by the door as he was taking down a bin bag any way. I couldn't tell you any more about him than the day he moved in. And recycling and being eco-friendly is not something he does.

And actually, I've realised I need some-one with a similar value base to me. Some-one who will notice I haven't had time to throw out the leftovers in the fridge and not just leave them to fester, some-one who will ask if I want a cuppa when they stick the kettle on - some-one that doesn't look terrified if you try to engage them in conversation!

Notwithstanding the fact that I feel he is always there! I have said to my friends if I was to get another lodger after he moves out that I'd have to put must have a least one weekend to myself every few months and at least two weeks twice a year where the other person isn't there into the lease! Having said that, I think my lodger is just the exception to the rule in never going out ever!

Obviously what you and MrC want from a lodger wil be different. I think my point is you need tyo know not only the practical, legal stuff that Shelter can give, but what is likely to grate on your nerves over the course of time so you can get the best possible match to make it a positive experience for you all. And agree with MrC what the get out clause is!

At the moment I know I am just tolerating my lodger as I have my own goals in mind with what I want to pay off and save up. I know that makes me really short of patience. And that it's not really very fair on him either. But I also know I don't have anything concrete to tell him in terms of what my long term plans are and what that might mean for both of us, so we're just stuck in limbo.

Or the short answer: know what you want and agree the length of time you're prepared to do it in advance! :D Don't get stuck in limbo!

See, we knew you could do it :j:T:j You are obviously like me and work best when the deadline is tight!!!!

Nothing like hugs with a cute wee one is there :)

Sorry about the cold :( I usually get one when I am run down or when I have been burning the candle at both ends. I hope that it goes quickly.

Maybe now all the college work has been handed in it is time to be a bit gentle with yourself for a little while?

    Sending hugs!
