 Yikes Maty! And here's me worrying about the what if's when I apply for VSO! The good thing with a new chapter is you can write it up to be whatever you need it to be! I hope it all goes your way!

Just back from conference meeting and quickly grabbing some lunch before getting back to it. 46 seats now sold and 10 people that we know of who are, apparently, attending (I'm inclined not to include them in numbers until I have their applications in my sticky little paws, but here's hoping.)

It's getting serious now! And we are realising just what an acheivement - and hopefully legacy - it will be! :) (Maybe I'll email the prof and tell him that's why my course work is so rubbish. Theory shmeory, here's what the people want... :rotfl: ... erm, maybe not! ;))

Took a colleague to the train station (with next to no deisel) completely forgetting many of the centre streets are closed for the filming of Brad Pitt's next movie World War Z (the book I recently read). The place was mobbed! I felt like a celebrity just driving through! And I secretly had my fingers crossed that I would not run out of deisel smack bang in the middle of it all! Imagining being the reason for any delay in filming.
    Brad Pitt: "What's going on?"
Film producer dude: "Some idiot women didn't fill up her car last night because she was clocking up an NSD and has just gridlocked the city as her car, unsurprsingly, conked out."
    Brad Pitt: "What a muppet."
Brad Pitt: (afterthought) "Nice work on the NSDs though!"
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I should write a movie! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You'll be glad to know I made it to the petrol station and my car no longer has a rumbly tummy! Despite having a minor panic when I couldn't think of a single petrol station in the the city centre. I still can't!

Anyway, must get back to work...

    Take care lovely people :D

We stopped at a gift shop in Mauchline (highly recommended by the way) and the lady that owns it says that Brad Pitt is staying at the other end of her garden on an estate her husband works on. She had to sign for a parcel for Brad and snuck her business card in to it :D

Sounds like the conference is coming together, well done :T:T:T

I know you were trying to up the NSD's but you need to be careful of running too low on fuel. It sucks up all the crud from the bottom of the tank in to the fuel lines and can block the jets. More expensive to fix than a tank of fuel :(

Can you tell my OH this. He is always running the tank right down. I spout this ^ at him all the time (my Dad drummed it into me) and he says that isnt the case these days. Last time he even quoted Martin saying not to run the car on a full tank because the weight makes it more expensive to run.

Hey Nic, I once held up the filming of Mersey Beat when I wandered right through the middle of a "take" in my home town and said hello to the lead character because I thought that I knew him. Didnt see the cameras and everything. Carried on walking and heard "CUT' - got out of there quick as I could but I am sure that they wondered who the mad woman in the yellow cagoul was.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Brilliant MrsMoo, brilliant! I always wonder that with celebrities. They must get people trying to place them all the time. We were standing next to Phil Jupitis when we were through in Edinburgh doing festivally things. I didn't even notice until my friend got frustrated at not remembering his name. It came to me right away - which was as much a shock to me as it was to the others. I'm always the one who never knows who people are. :)

So I'm quite sure, even if I had to be rescued by Brad when my car fell to pieces because I'm a terrible mother to it, or if he turned up at my door because I sneaked my business card into his parcel, I'd be wondering who the bearded guy was and why did he look so familiar! :rotfl:

I have been in the library tonight. I'd love to say the assignment is finished, but that would be a downright lie. It is at least started though. It needs to be finished over the weekend if I've any hope of doing the reading, assessments and assignment for the next module. As my lovely mother pointed out, it won't do itself! I knew I'd been doing something wrong! :rotfl:

I read the One Minute Manager book on self-leadership last night (not having picked up another novel yet! Bizarre girl!) and discovered the reason I am finding the course so hard is because I am stuck on being a "disillusioned learner". This means I started off all enthusiastic, found it hard and lost my motivation! It also means I need a high level of guidance and a high level of support to become "cautiously competent". But off course a high level of guidance just isn't available on a distance learning course - especially when you have only discovered you need it two weeeks before the final, final, final deadline! And so I've never made it clear to any-one that I need guidance. I've always just thought to myself I'll muddle through! Which I'm sure I will. But hindsight being a smug little burger, has just made it clear I should have done that a long time ago to reduce the stress! You live and learn! :D

Interesting book. I'm wondering if I'm brave enough to ask supervisor to think about her level of need for the area of work in which I have more experience. It might make it a little easier for us both in me giving that guidance/suppport/delegation (depending which she needs ;)).

So thank you MrsMoo - you originally recommended the series for their Meets the Monkey book and I picked up the self-leadership one too. I'm off to re-read the Monkey one to ensure I don't collect my supervisor's monkeys! :D Or any-one ele's for that matter.

The only monkey I want is a helper monkey! :D

It's lovely to pop on and see so many of you visiting. Thank you :). Big hugs to you all.

(PS Maty, drove through Mauchline many a time. Unfortunately it was always in work time so I couldn't stop. Though I do seem to remember deciding to stop and have lunch at a lovely little cafe in the middle of no-where on the way back once. I've never been back out that way outwith work time.)

Yes, my mother always used to tell me never to have it less than a quarter full BUT its so difficult when you have everything in, you're sorted for that days NSD and this little pesky light keeps flashing. It's such a Catch 22 in my head.

Right Nic. I'm off to start on my intro. Here's looking at you :T

Oh God Butti, I'm almost scared to ask... I'm pretty sure you'll have more words than I do now!

You just gotta love those foggy brain days! Karma caught me giggling at my colleauge who managed to lock her car keys in her car and needed to be rescued by a shining knight.

I loaded my supermarket shopping onto the conveyor belt and shoved my hand into my bag to get my purse.

Yup; it was sitting here by my laptop from checking all my accounts online. This not being the first time I have done such a thing, unperturbed, I asked the checkout person if I could put it all through anyway and go and get my purse.

I think she thought I had lost the plot. Her supervisor however was completely blase about it so I knew it was not an uncommon occurrence. In that particualr store it happens at least 10 times a day. (It happens more often in the store in which I forgot my purse last time as they had a queue of trolleys waiting for people to come back and claim them, so much so, they thanked my for coming back when I did.)

Anyway, that's my big supermarket shop for the next couple of months so I'm safe. :D

And since that means no NSD, I also got Mum's birthday pressie from Amazon (remind me of that at the end of the month when I am wondering what to get mum for her birthday!)

Now I am just wondering if there is anything else I need to get that can be done today to ensure tomorrow is an NSD.

1007 words Nic. May try and finish draft intro tomorrow while I'm on a roll.

I'm quite sure your debt is looking better than mine. Mine has a £10k student loan, and about £2900 to my dad as we stand plus a pile of credit cards plus an overdraft. Not good!
