They get a lot of money each week - and mostly spend it each week, all of it. So then when they need something they have no money. Giving people money isn't the answer ... the people on the programme were spending all the money every week ... because they KNOW more comes next week... something that doesn't happen "in the real world".

£150 shopping budget one MP had ... he spent £105 on food, woman took the rest for fags. Spent it all ... because there's more next week. There wasn't even "Oh, that's good, I'll spend £20 on baccy as it goes further and save the other £32", no - had to blow the lot then and there. Mind you, if she hadn't spent it on fags, her OH would have spent it on weed/beer.

I think the mothers think all the money's theirs. Most of it's for the kids really, then spent by the parents on stuff for themselves.
  • they are just a tumour - growing larger and taking more and more from the host.

eventually, unless a political party has the guts to do what is necessary, they will kill us all.

benefits are now more than income tax. that is insanity

Yes i am on benefits, wont tell you which ones, lets see you be judgemental on what you obviously don't know. They i'll happily tell you what i am on and why.

Internet could of been provided free, lots of local authorities are loaning them so children can do their homework. http://www.computing.co.uk/computing/news/2228774/first-stage-government-learning

Ice maker is not essential i agree, but where are they supposed to keep their frozen food, which is cheaper than fresh food for a lot of people.

Anyway back to the thread, wasn't shocked too see that the mp's were cheating, basically couldn't cope with reality.. £50.00 in a bra!!! and to give it to a woman who looks like she spends that a week on getting her nails done.. did you see the size of them.

if you don't work you should be lucky to have 20 quid. this is what people on benefits fail to understand - YOU HAVE NO RIGHT OR ENTITLEMENT TO ANYTHING. you live on the charity of the workers and you should be grateful for what you get.

the more i think about these people the more it makes me sick. these people should not get money - they need food stamps that can be redeemed for certain goods in certain supermarkets. there is no need for these people to have dogs or cats. I would like a dog but, despite having a house I don't believe the house is right for a dog. these people have two dogs in a one bedroom flat. there is no need for it. Dog food should not be redeemable under the food stamp scheme. Also, cigarettes and booze should not be allowed. if luxuries are required - work for them. Perhaps the food stamps can be topped up with booze and fag stamps if they do voluntary work.

for people that don't work, they have pretty much every luxury you can think of.

sickening- its about time these people on benefits knew what hardship was.

150 per week is ASDA!????? That is more than I spend and I have a decent job.

i agree that owning a dog, unless there is someone else in the house who can look after it, pretty much suggests either you have no intention of finding full time employment or you don't care what happens to your animal if you do. unemployment (unless through severe disability) is supposed to be a temporary lifestyle therefore you shouldn't really be taking on any commitments that couldn't be altered if you find work.

however, if you already own pets and then find yourself out of work through no intention of your own (it does happen white_horse), the system should be able to support you and your pet through a tough patch.

Wow. I must be too busy working 12 hour shifts in a factory to notice that one. Where can I get my free Internet? Sounds like a great idea.

Only saw five minutes, but that qualified chef who has been unable to find a job for four years, one of his kids looked younger than four. Why breed kids you can't provide for? I would love more children, but can't afford it.
