Workers if they fit the criteria get working tax credits, childcare paid for....
been in both boats, tbh i may have my rent and council tax paid for but that's all, the rest i have to fund myself.
Single people rarely qualify for wtc.
Then all the "other freebies" people can get while on benefits add up to a small fortune, workers have to pay full price for everything.0 -

You don't have to spend money on whip rounds, and charity days, you choose to.
And people on benefits don't need clothes?, those that need to sign on each week/fortnight some need to get buses too, that comes out of their benefits, that's not refunded.
some companies (although rare do offer subsidised nursery, canteens)
Sorry but apart from my rent and council tax, i have to pay full price for everything too, i'm disabled, do i get cheaper electric/gas/water no
do i get discounts on food no
i am fortunate i get free bus travel, but my carer can not, unfortunately for me to use public transport i do need someone with me. wheelchairs and bus drivers don't mix.
And yes i use charity shops for clothes when i can, i am not a fashion victim who needs the latest trends, never have done.0 -
the more i think about these people the more it makes me sick. these people should not get money - they need food stamps that can be redeemed for certain goods in certain supermarkets. there is no need for these people to have dogs or cats. I would like a dog but, despite having a house I don't believe the house is right for a dog. these people have two dogs in a one bedroom flat. there is no need for it. Dog food should not be redeemable under the food stamp scheme. Also, cigarettes and booze should not be allowed. if luxuries are required - work for them. Perhaps the food stamps can be topped up with booze and fag stamps if they do voluntary work.
for people that don't work, they have pretty much every luxury you can think of.
sickening- its about time these people on benefits knew what hardship was.
150 per week is ASDA!????? That is more than I spend and I have a decent job.0 -
I'm not going to get involved....I'm not going to get involved.
Phew, if I tell myself that enough times, I may just save my blood pressure going eek!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
And people on benefits don't need clothes?,
They don't need to have eight children
they don't need computers and broadband
They don't need the flat screen wall mounted TVs I saw.
I'm sorry these people have everything for nothing and no wish to work.
Poverty's definition has been twisted in this country.
These people should try going to Africa and live in a mud hut. THATs poverty.
On top of bringing up their children, feeding them, clothing them, housing them, giving them free medical care, these people still resent us, the very people who enable them to exist and yet they want MORE!
The amounts paid in benefits are now more than what Britain receives in income tax!!!! How much longer can we go on supporting this underclass in this lifestyle they have become accustomed to? Sitting around smoking cigaretes?
It's our own fault. We've allowed the benefits lifestyle to become a lifestyle choice. Benefits need cut, NOW.0 -

I chucked to myself at the pondlife who accused the MP of taking "our" money in expenses.
Since when did she work and contribute !!!!!
Benefits need to be there for those who are in genuine need and have contributed. I have worked since I left school and paid National Insurance all my life. I do not see why, if I was unlucky enough to be unemployed, that I should not get benefit to tied me over.
But I find it hard to disagree with the sentiments of this post about the kind of pondlife in this show. Our taxes pay for their lifestyle and it is their sense of entitlement to it that annoys me. Something for nothing. I am amazed more people do not get angry at this especially as we are faced with rises in our taxation over the next few years to service the national debt."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Primary schoolgirls getting pregnant aged 10
"Primary schoolgirls as young as 10 are getting pregnant, according to new figures released under the Freedom of Information Act. Between 2000 and 2007, a total of 15 ten year olds and 39 aged 11 fell pregnant in England and Wales.
From 2000 to 2007, there have been 17,626 pregnancies among under-15s - six every day. "
FACT - It's never too early to get on-board the benefits gravy train in Nulabour's socialist utopia. If you wait until 16 to get preggers, all the good council flats have gone! Them ba*tard kiddies are a gold-mine!0 -
It would be a better programme if the people who went into the tower blocks and stayed with the families were working ordinary people who struggle and can't afford the nails, plasma tvs, dogs, drugs and alcohol. They've more right to express their opinions that MPs who ride the gravy train.
Edited to say - How many working people on normal wages spend £150 per week at the supermarket? They ought to show a breakdown of the claimants' incomes including their council tax and rent benefits." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I'm going to avoid this programme as it sounds as though it will give me rage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
