so he'd made no effort to find out about things, yet he'd decided they were crap anyway.

In that part of London his councillor could well be National Front.

No wonder GB is trying to "fix" the electoral system this side of the election.
  • Unless I was watching a different programme I saw no pleadings of poverty last night. Lots of poorly-dressed people living in horrible surroundings but I don't hate them for that. It's not necessarily a revelation that people who believe that politics and politicians are so far-removed from their daily lives to barely have any relevance at all and therefore have no interest in them or little understanding of what they do. All of the host families seemed pretty good-natured considering but I couldn't comprehend how the woman complaining about that foul mould in her bathroom didn't get of her arris and do something about it. Like giving it a good scrub. Even a bit of Vim could be afforded on Income Support, couldn't it?

I have a feeling that Austin Mitchell and his wine-swilling wife are going to come off rather badly in this series, especially after being filmed popping out in the pricey motor to visit well-heeled friends for dinner rather than staying home and cooking their own like everyone else.

I'm quite looking forward to next week's programme

i refer you to the multi million earning blair. the biggest socialist of them all. harriet harperson and her privately educated brood. they are all scum. Most of the Oxbridge eductaed cabinet who HATE Oxbridge educated people. Self loathing scum.

If they are in the same motor as they were in at the start it was an old Volvo estate, probably £1000 tops.

Not necessarily: but typical of some politicians, regardless of party imo. Typical of some of the electorate as well for that matter, if you want to be pedantic, which I do.

I'm not a driver or a car-owner so I don't know anything about car-makes or their values as you may have gathered but to some sections of our community £1k would be a pricey motor, no?

The best immediate guide to a car's value is the date in the registration number - so get a cherished numberplate if you want to keep Mr Average guessing.

its too easy to take that point of view though.

if you yourself became a politician tomorrow, then most people would think you were useless before you had even done anything.

the oldish black guy stood outside that shop near the start of the program was very cynical about politicians, yet didnt even know who his local councillor was.

so he'd made no effort to find out about things, yet he'd decided they were crap anyway.

I totally agree with you there and thats purely because the vast majority of the current MP,s have in one way or another shafted the electorate,be it expenses or in the case of the 2 I have worked for both voted with their parties on important votes which were NOT in the best interest of their constituants.I like I said have worked for 2 MP,s on a regular basis and have chatted in depth ,so I haven't formed my opinion on a chance meeting in the street.People have become cynical mainly down to the "spin" they are fed on a regular basis.

I have always taken a keen interest in politics whether it national or local so I think I am well enough informed to have my opinion.TBH IMO the oldish black guy was put on the spot, he ranted and didn't come across as knowledgable about the issues however he was put on the spot and given time would probably put his view across better.

I rewound the programme so I'm a bit behind but a very young child has just shouted, 'you burnt the chocolate, you !!!!!' at one of the MPs!

It's the same family that has dog pee all over the floor I think!

There's no need for that imo - that's not about poverty!
