PS Talk to your neighbours about the pot if you can - people keeping an eye out in your neighbourhood is invaluable.

thanks LA. I have these child proof lock things that stop the window opening more than a couple of inches and to be honest they are never open anyway. There is only the front door into the building which has a yale and mortice lock and a chain that I put on at night. The doors into the building aren't so good. The front door only has a yale and none of the neighbours seem to care about making sure it closes behind them. More often than not at the minute it's open when I come home. The back door has two bolts and as people are seldom out there there seems to be at least one always shot.

the pots were in the back garden and the way it is I don't think anyone would have seen. our back garden faces the windowless side of anther block and due to walls, coal sheds etc the buildings on either side can't really see. As for the neighbours in my block I've lost track of who's who. at least two of the flats upstairs are owned by letting agencies and rented to Polish-skis so I'm not sure how many of them would care much. It's really sad. When I moved here they were all privately owned, people cleaned the hall, the garden was tidied and now it's such a dissapointment.

forgive me fellow dfw's for I have sinned. I've just eaten a pack of squares AND a curly wurly. it's been such a boring non-day that I needed something. am soooooooooo bad.

on top of that i'm off shopping after work, need to get a couple of longer sleeved tops or jumpers for work cause i'm starting to feel th cold and with the problems I've had with my hands the last thing I need is to be cold. Will also have to look for leather gloves too but since they seem to be in vogue at the minute i should be able to get a really cool pair which i'll want to wear!

on the plus side, my line manager informed me today that i'm being made permenant (whch includes a pay rise) and that it might be backdated as far as the start of the month! won't hold my breath (especially as I have hiccups and might explode!)

hope your all having a good day and i'll catch up with you whn I eventually get home

LOL @ "hiccups - might explode" thing! :rotfl:

Just a thought....if you are in a flat, do you pay a service charge every month of any description? I don't know if it differs in Scotland but when I bought my flat, I paid £20 a month to a Management Agency.

If you do the same it *might* be well worth getting in contact with them to say there's been an incident and they might fit a self closing device to the main door?

I'd still think about popping a note through your neighbours doors to say (even if you have to 'elaborate' a bit) people have been snooping about, caused some damage and remind them to close the front door and keep their eyes open. Or something like that.

I know it's disappointing when properties become rented but there may well be some good eggs in there that will want to keep things as nice as possible and will encourage people to close the door if nothing else.

    You never know...

LA nah I don't pay any kind of service charge or that. I'm wondering if there is anything the council can do, we'll see.

Speaking of which, was talking to a friend who works there who mentioned they don't have any kind of work xmas party as people would be thinkin 'thats what my taxes go on'. I'd be happy for them to have a party if they stopped wasting money on high council leader wages and stupid initiatives and schools. kids are nothing but trouble and should be in jail not school! final word on subject (;))

didn't get anything in town except a sushi plate and fruit drink from m&s

I'm watching bride and prejudice and have realised why i'm single and always will be. I want a man who doesn't exist! One who wants to wake up next to me, not just sleep with me. One who pulls me into his arms just to hold me close not to try and get me into bed. I want someone who truly loves me. someone romantic and wonderful. Never going to find someone like that am i?

They do exist - you just have to look in the right places for them. You also have to think of whether you are looking for the right thing. Looks can be deceiving.

The other side of that coin is whether you'd be "a catch" for such a guy. Only you can decide that.

    Good luck...
