What happens to someone like me. I am not a business but I make greetings cards. Two reasons why i use them. First when i am sending quite a few in one go to friends/family. I usually send them to one person for them to hand them out. The second reason would be if someone asked me to make them some/a card/s.

Does that mean i am not entitled to any?

Unfortunately it seems you will have to buy your own poly envelopes from now on.

    Hi guys and gals,
I can confirm that I just telephoned through to the updated number of 0845 600 0690 and spoke to a gentleman who said that because we were not registered as a business at our address on the national database then we would have to ring the following number to get registered. The process can take up to 48 hours but once done you can ring back and get your bags. The number is 0845 601 1110 - option 3 then option 1.

    I hope that helps.
Debt free, smiling and proud - it's been a long @$$ road!
If you're going through it, know that you got this! Believe in the process and you can do anything you put your mind to!
I've got this, I can do this, I believe in me! xXx

here you go, i copied it and kept it, havent run out yet!

phone royal mail on 08457 950 950 (option 3) then (option 1) and ask for the free silver special delivery bags, they come in 4
different sizes....and they really send you as much as you want (they come in packs of 50 and i got 4 lots of each size....800
bags), when they run out you can order more! ;D

*Board Guide Edit: The bags can no longer be ordered from this helpline for residential users. This service is now only available to genuine companies.
    Is it free?

  • Is this why Royal mail is struggling to pay their pension pot XD
  • Royal Mail used to send these out by the bulk load, but because a load of greedy ebayers who couldn't be bothered to use them for the actual useage, Royal mail stopped supplying them, no the same people moan that they cannot use them.

If you had used them correctly eg paying special delivery fee then it would not have been stopped.

People ask how royal mail knew, the 1st item is barcoded and they come in packs of 50 so the following 49 items would have a corresponding number.

If RM supplied 10000 of these bags and the numbers are not flagged as being used it doesn't take a genius to work out that the bags are being misused, so the offer is stopped.

How can the same people moan now?? If they are being used for ebay that you are just greedy as you are allowed to add posting and packaging prices, so if a jiffy bag costs a £1 then you add that to the postage price,

as per usual a small minority who intend to get rich quick by charging for packaging then pinching the packaging from RM have spoilt it for everyone.

Would these same people moan when stamps go up?

As my dad used to say you never get nothing for nothing in this world.
