does anyone else feel the need to stash other things? such as vitamins, washing up liquid...food? or is it just me for which this stashing problem extends into the rest of my life?

I feel I should say, 'my name's Helen and I'm addicted to bulk buying and stashing pretty things'.

Yes! I stash everything, I think I have a deep down fear of running out of things, even though the shops are always stocked and open! I have to have at least a couple of back ups of each type of product to stop me from feeling nervous. I always get my vitamins and omega oil capsules on 3 for 2 though and Boots are often out of stock of the omega oil capsules I like so that's my excuse for stocking up on those :D. The same goes for everything though, cleaning products, toilet roll... However, I don't have an addiction to trying millions of different types of cleaning products and toilet rolls, like I do with beauty products. I think the 'pretty things' sums it up for me too, as I'm the same with clothes and accessories.

ETA: I used to hoard books. I buy loads; I have shelves full of unread books because I buy them faster than I read them. I used to keep every book I had read, but now I just keep the ones I absolutely love and might read again in the future. I felt so good after that clearout! I also have a massive stash of pretty stationery - I've no idea where all those notebooks have come from (I think many were presents), but again I can't use them fast enough to get the stash down!

"I would suggest, a long walk, reading, listening to music. De-cluttering and listing on Ebay (if you need to), I never seem to have time to read books these days, so that would be luxury to me.?
Are there any parks nearby where you could go for the walk without the temptation?

No park but a path people use for dog walking. I should ebay, declutter, clean..it might be because I live alone that I keep going to the shops rather than sitting home alone. I've cut back to 1 visit a week to Boots. I don't know why I feel so compelled to visit at all when I'm not supposed to be buying anything.

People on this thread (me included) seem to be making almost daily trips to the shops. It's literally what I do with my spare time, like a hobby. Anyone have any ideas on how to change this routine?

My problem is that I work right near the city centre, and I have to walk through it to get my transport home. Once I finish work I have time to kill before I can make my way home, so I look around the shops to pass the time. Saying that, most of my purchases aren't impulse buys; I read reviews on products because I'll see a product mentioned on a forum or somewhere and if the reviews are great, I have to have it, so I'll go to a specific shop to pick it up. Working so close to shops makes it too easy.

You don't work in Bromley do you? I have the exact same problem... Boots is my shortcut to the bus stop, I must start going to a different bus stop!! Having said that, I was in there twice today, once with a mate picking up a prescription and once getting a decongestant spray and both times I only bought what I went in for!
I'm buying No More Toiletries, I'm Deluttering and I'm Losing Weight for 2010!

    Hiya
At last I'm begining to use things up, today finished a super size L'Occitane verbena shower gel and a super size L'Occitane liquid soap they last such a long time I was getting Really Board using them up. WIBA: kind of- but I still have 4 more of each to use first. Will start a MB one in the morning but which one, oh the dilemers of a horder:A

I hoard so many things, any thing thats anything to do with sewing(I have 3 machiens as well 1 electric, 1 hand, and my fav a -treddle- its wonderful) xstich treads of every colour you can think of. Books, have multi rubber gloves:o washing up liquid:o:o loo rolls:o:o:o All kinds of things. I tend to get lots of practical things when there on offer, its not ocd I promise. I live in the middle of nowere so when I do get to go to a supermarket and have the car I think I go over the top and feel the need to fill it up!!!!!

The toiletries thing started when I got freeview and found QVC:mad:
They do have some bargins but when you factor in the p&p and that I always seem to have to go to the local post office depot to collect the parcils, as Im never home when they are delivered, they become less of a bargin.

Sorry I'm rambling again I think I need to get some dinner and clear my thoughts see you later

I gave my friend one of the fcuk weekend kits for her birthday and she was delighted! So that's me a happy bunny too!
I have combined 2 half empty handwashes (same flavour) and have cleaned out the empty. I then filled it up with the tresemme conditioner. Soon I hope to be able to get rid of the massive bottle so it's not cluttering up my basket!
I'm going to chuck out the bronze nail varnish because it's all wrinkled today so it is obviously past its best. I'll take that off tonight and put something else on instead.
I had to go into town this afternoon so I was able to pick up the kids toothbrushes (they did need new ones) from the pound shop as boots were really expensive. While I was in there, I bought a hair dye. I'll get DH to do that for me on Sunday! (Lucky man isn't he ;) )

Kaz my husband now colours my hair monthly. he was a nightmare the 1st time that he attempted to do it; pebble dashed the bathroom red

I colour mine monthly and as each month passes he is getting better (insert the sarky smiley). I used to spend £45.00 per month having my hair coloured at the hairdressers it now costs me £1.00 from the pound shop (Martin would be proud of me) :money:.

I'm loving that picture lin.c Is the Elle McPhearson body butter really nice? It's on my wanted list:)

I'm still using the last bit of my Sanctuary Body Butter at the moment, then I've got a half-used bottle of Dove body lotion to finish off, so won't get to the Elle butter for some time yet, but I do like the smell of her products, so looking forward to it :)
I've had Elle McPherson stuff before, it's ok but the FCUK is a nicer smell and nicer to use I think.

I hate the smell of the Elle McPherson stuff...I think its minging :o I got a set in Christmas 08 and gave it away to a girl in my work who was just setting up home. She was thrilled :D
