No buying toiletries in February challenge!

I am really grateful for this thread. I had over an hour to kill at Manchester Piccadilly this afternoon, so I thought I'd have a little nosey round Bodyshop. There was loads of things that I thought "ooohh... that looks interesting..." but I was strong and walked straight back out of there. If it wasn't for this thread I would have undoubtedly bought something that I wouldn't use.
So.... THANKS EVERYONE!
Well done you for going in and coming out empty handed :T:hello:No more toiletries challenge :T

Just had a quick flick through - will read more in a minute when posted this. I agree with how crap RM and their customer service is. We've just had our first delivery for a week - and that was only because it was van!parcel post.
We don't have a postman as they took our last postman off the round and broke it up last summer, only we have to wait until someone can/will do overtime to deliver our post and obv the fact we're not getting any letter post means noone has lately. I'd laugh and not believe it if it hadn't been told to me by our last postman when he covered our round for a week at Christmas. Have 2 out of 6 outstanding items now. Still 4 to come!
Have complained 4 times to RM, once to consumerdirect and another time to postcom. It's ridiculous so you do have my sympathy!0 -

they have not replied to my email after this "proof" was sent to me:mad::mad:0 -
Been meaning to post these for a while as like you lot, I do like a nosey through peoples stashes. Starting with the cosmetics which I'm not sure if I'm counting in this as a) I don't have a lot, b) I don't wear makeup unless it's a special occasion and c) I'd like to experiment more but I don't have the items/money to do it.
Deoderants and sprays. More in the stuff from the bathroom below - these are the ones in my room

Bathroom Stuff:

Used up since pic taken: Hair dye, Strawberry&Cream shampoo in the middle (used as bubble bath cos it was awful)
Soap/Facial Wash/Bath Stuff/Shower Gel/Half Used Up Stuff

Used up since pic taken: End of blue Lush Soap and shower gel, green circle tub of body scrub and sainsburys basics bath stuff.
Toothbrushes/Toothpaste/Mouthwash/Talc

Nearly used up the toothpaste and other mouthwash that aren't pictured.
Hair stuff/Deodorant/sprays/perfume/self tanning stuff (yellow tubes), hand sanitisers/lotions and potions and stuff.

The tanning stuff is fab - it was just 19p a tube from Boyes and gives a really natural tan that is waterproof and wears off naturally after about 4 days.
The royal jelly stuff I don't think will ever get used up, I love the shower/bath stuff - but the lotion doesn't have the same smell for me.
You can add to it another Red Door perfume, mini parfum and body lotion too as they were a belated birthday present from a friend that finally arrived (being posted a fortnight ago!!!) thanks to the crap I have with royal mail.
Whilst not as big as everyone elses it doesn't seem to run down, sadly! :rotfl: Really looking forward to it running out so I can go on a spree and get some nice stuff again
Also have mini's and variious other toiletries in a travel bag for when we go away0 -
Well done for posting piccies Christmas_
You have a nice stash...I have one of those Avon pillar mists too, I think it's lovely but my OH dosen't, so just spray it before he gets into bed...:hello:No more toiletries challenge :T

I was very good today, I resisted big temptation, as loads of good offers on at the moment. I picked up two Aussie 3 min miracle conditioners as they were on offer, two for £5, and put them back (not needed)
Picked up a carmax lip balm £2.49, put it back as I don't need it yet.
Picked up some Norwegan moisturiser, £4.79 put it back as its not needed.
Picked up some original source mint and tea tree shower gel as was on offer for £1.50, but put back.
Was a bit naughty Wednesday though, bought the new Sure Naturals Deo in Sainsbury as it was on offer, £1.49 ish I think.
Plus 4 packs on my Johnsons green face wipes and 2 for £4.0 -
Should I refund the buyer immediately or tell her that I will refund her when I hear from RM? I guess I'm going to have to refund her anyway, so was just wondering when to do so.
Tara, I'd refund her straightaway. Like you say, you'll have to refund her in any case and you're more likely to get good feedback if you do. If you tell the buyer she has to wait, no matter how politely you do it, she might take the hump and file a dispute to get her refund.
Ladyhawk - well done you! I did the same in Boots the other day., I had to go in for some vitamins and went for a wander around. I have to say, the longer you go without buying things the easier it becomes. It's almost like buying something when I was in Boots was more of a habit than necessity.
Despite that, it's sometimes still two steps forward, one step back - or rather one step forward and two back in my case. I used up a trial size Olay night cream yesterday, and this morning I got two trial sized Avene products in the post - no idea where they came from - moisturiser and cleanser. They'll get used up quickly though. Love the Avene, not so fussed on the Olay. I'm not terribly fussed on Olay full stop, actually.0 -
i finished a tub of talc off this morning. It's probably gonna be a while before if finish anything else up though. I do like the idea of paying a tin £1 each time i finish something will have to look our a tin round the house somewhere. I'm bound to have a spare one somewhere.0

Hi ladies, hope you are all well, noticed we have a few of us trailing behind the wagon
. Never mind eh, i reckon punishment should consist of having to spend an hour in boots fragrance/ toiletries dept and not being allowed to buy anything:p.
Thanks for sharing your eBay/RM experiences girls, and sorry for taking the thread OT.
I have now completed the claim form and taken it to the PO, the guy was very nice and said that I should get a refund via cheque but it may take time. I am pretty relieved TBH! The certificate of posting shows the weight of the parcel so it's obvious that I didn't post an empty packet!!
Hi Tara, dont be sorry, i think this thread has a great community feel and its nice that we can share bits of our lives.mrs-moneypenny wrote: »wondering about the pots do you all put some money aside when you 'buy' an item from your stash, wasnt sure if thats how it worked.
I thinkill start doing something like that then i can buy some nice stuff once ive used up what ive got hoarded away
On a toiletries note, have not finished anything today, but managed to find myself in a boots:o. Well i do have a gift card to spend:p. So i got a couple of things, but not for me mind.
Olay definity eye box (purple) £6.25 before moc so got 4 paid £5 for the lot. Ones for my mum and one for mum in law and im selling two on ebay, cause ireally need the cash.
Also got a cute stole thingy for dd reduced to £7 (1/2 price)minus old £3moc (there is a new one but you have to spend £15 and i havent tested it on sale items)so that was £4, very pleased with my purchases and nothing added to my stash:). Was so tempted by the perfume counter though. Im really loving Coco Chanel edp at the mo, so sophisticated, sexy and expensive smelling. There was a guy buying some of the mamoiselle version, and was raving about how fruity it was, but i wasnt that keen, but i did resist and walked away from temptation:A. Twas very hard though, i baddddddly wanted it:(.
Also popped into hobby craft today, i can feel another addiction forming:rotfl::rotfl:, i was in heaven, but again just bought a couple of unfinished trinket boxes 44p each as they will be good projects for the kids over half term, decorating etc..
There were some cute little animals you can make up which i might go back too as we have two pregnant cousins in the family at the mo, so if i can sew them without making them looked deformed they would be a nice personal gift.
Well, im off to make some custard as we have some chocolate muffins that are drying very slightly but will be fine with some custard on them, its quite shocking as normally the muffins have gone by the third day oafter baking them:eek:.
See you later
Nab
xxYou laugh because I'm different......I laugh cause I just farted!
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. (A.C)0 -
i'm still in. i do pop in to boots at lunchtime just to have a look.:D
things are getting used up slowly.0
