I'd give her the benefit of the doubt, but wouldn't like to say really cos the experts always come up with scenarios / actions I wouldn't have thought about................ the peeps on the ebay board are always REALLY friendly and helpful to newbies and I always run there with my naive little questions to stop myself getting in a pickle!

In Ebays T&C's it says that the seller has responsibility for parcels that don't turn up, I'm not sure where you'd stand on tampered with ones... I'd do benefit of doubt though, I've had opened letters sent through, post not delivered for months even after complaints and a family member who worked for RM as a temp over Chrimbo and watched managers putting 'expensive looking packages' straight into his bag!!! Proof of postage and the end package should be enough for a claim, I believe you're covered up to £34 but could be mistaken.

Also, careful on repeat no package claims as I know that this was a frequent case with a new postie when I was at my parents, I ended up using my dads work address as we couldn't guarantee mine.

Back on topic... oh's mum finally came over and looked through the bags of bits I'd put out for her... got a HUGE binbag back full of brand new expensive toiletries that oh has bought as presents for her over the years and she's never opened and doesn't want to carry back. It's all lovely stuff and will last us for years!!! Yay!

    I've been Money Tipped!
That's happened to me on numerous occasions, you've just reminded me. Where we used to live, I had no end of recorded delivery stuff shoved through the letter box, the postie signed for them himself! Kind of defeats the object of people paying for the service doesn't it? He once even send to my husband do you want to sign for stuff or shall I just post it??? It beggars belief. You complain to the sorting office and they couldn't give a toss. Like on Dispatches, the manager said "all the customers are liars". My question is what is the point of the customer's lying, they don't get anything out of it?

We could start a whole new thread on this.

Our postman leaves things we should collect if not here, and we love him for it! He's actually great, we leave letters with stamps on out and he takes them to deliver too. He's super with our somewhat intimidating dogs too. We love our postie.

I have fallen off the wagon. Couldn't resist The Body Shop 3x£5 Hemp hand creams, with £5 off and then £1.50 cashback my total spend was £8.50. I wouldn't even get one for that price normally. Plus one is a gift for someone. And I made £3 profit selling some cosmetics on ebay earlier this week. I'm trying to convince myself here but it's not working, can you tell? =/

Anywaaay! A few of my products are nearing the finish line, though some of them are things I nabbed from my mum :o she doesn't use them though, so I'm sure she won't mind.

I still haven't bought any shampoo/conditioner which is the one thing I've ran out of, but there's loadsss belonging to my sister in the bathroom (she tries them once then dumps them) so I'm using those up. My hair is looking quite nice at the moment, I think it might be the cheapie Sunsilk that I used midweek.

Just because you have written it super small and in a light colour, doesn't mean we can't read it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think your justifications are good :D and it's a great price!

  • I suppose it's ok if it's somewhere secure, but in the foyer of a block of flats, anyone can take your stuff, and the PO say you've signed for it so you've had it. They don't seem to understand that if it's not your signature, you haven't had it.

    Brilliant result in Boots!

This has happened to me sending and receiving. I have put in claim forms with Royal Mail and they have paid out. I once sent an expensive item to an Ebayer who send it was broken, he sent me pictures, I put a claim in and when they paid out, I refunded him. They didn't take long to pay out so I was quite pleased.

The postal service these days is shocking, I've had stuff delivered with a small slit in one side where someone has removed whatever's in it and then posted it. I can't help but blame someone in the post office system, who else could it be?

With regards to the Ebayer, check her feedback to see if she's had anything not delivered before, one party or the other will usually mention it if there's been a problem. Then you might have an idea if she's trying it on.
Good luck trying to claim off RM

i once sold a pair of snowboard trousers, they arrived to the buyer in a RM plastic bag, that was the first i heard of the damage that had been done they'd dropped the trousers and someone in the depot had drove over them they had oil marks on them i put my complaint in and RM sent me 6 1st class stamps for the inconvienence sold the trousers for just over £38.00
Can't say I'm surprised. Did you see the Dispatches programme on RM the other night? Every complaint on there has happened to us. Our current postie delivers after 6pm every night, once after 9pm and they reckon this is normal.

They have zero customer service if you have no proof. I've complained to the ombudsman about them with one particular complaint, OFFCOM I think, after a CS person at RM told me there was no ombudsman. I found it on the web in the end.

Thanks for all your advice. I checked her feedback, she has fewer than 30 feedbacks but they are all positive. (Do sellers ever leave feedback before ensuring that the item has arrived safely and everything is ok?) Anyway. I have my proof of posting, got a claim form and will fill it in this afternoon. Wish me luck!

Second that regarding proof as hubby forgot a COP at the PO and you've guessed it the parcel went missing I was given a book of 6 1st class stamps as I did not have proof.

I have had parcels turn up from Ebay repackaged by the RM as the seller had used a paper envelope and they had disentegrated in the postal system.

Buyers have contacted me to say that they have had to pay extra postage to pay, this is after I have had them weighed & franked at the PO, I refunded the buyer his £1.50 and complained to the RM they sent me 36 1st class stamps as compensation.

I am so annoyed at RM,I sent my son his passport recorded delivery,it arrived with the envelope ripped and was just posted through the door without getting him to sign.I sent numerous emails without any answer then they sent me "proof" his signed for it(after 3 weeks) with a photo copy on the web site........only thing is it was his name but nothing like his signature and he was not as home when it came so i think the RM signed it themselves when I complained:mad::mad::mad:

they have not replied to my email after this "proof" was sent to me:mad::mad:

Yes, it's happened to us a lot.

On the Dispatches programme there were numerous people telling the undercover reporter that parcels had been left on doorsteps, in gardens etc in full view of anyone walking by. (They just thought he was a postman and were complaining to him)

Can't speak for anyone else but when I sell on eBay I always put a note with the parcel, and message the buyer to say that once it has arrived and they are happy they should leave my feedback, I will then leave theirs. That way I can feel sure that once they have left feedback, everything is OK. You do get the odd one who simply doesn't bother leaving feedback for you, but they don;t get theirs until mine is left. If I'm a buyer I don't expect mine until I have left the seller's.
