If the phone's worth a lot of money I'd go with Special Delivery as it's insured for the value. Recorded's more for documents that you want to make sure have been received but don't have any value. Also you can insure parcels by standard parcel post but you don't have proof they've received the item.

If it's not worth much like the hooded top possibly is, I'd say send it by standard parcels and when you get to the PO, if it's cheaper to go first class (which it often is) send it first. I always weigh stuff on my kitchen scales, get an idea of the price off the RM website and then add a small amount for the packaging. I don't always get it right but mostly I'm not out of pocket.

For all the horror stories, I'm sure they're in the tiny minority. I'm still selling stuff. If you're worried, start with small/low value stuff until you have confidence in the system.:)

Thanks for the help :D I doubt the phone is worth much, probably worth more in boots points lol. I offered that type of postage because it's what everyone else selling that phone was offering. Thanks for the help regarding the hooded top too :D Ebay has changed so much since I last sold anything... maybe 5 years ago  But to be fair I've never really had any problems buying and I think problems come from the postage service rather than the sellers.

I'm on an ebay mission this w/e and will search the house for small bits to list and get me back in the routine of how it works. This week has been pretty stressful tbh and I've only got 1 item listed :o I should maybe relax a little bit and not be so over dramatic hehe.

    Thanks again :D
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.

Thanks for sharing your eBay/RM experiences girls, and sorry for taking the thread OT.

I have now completed the claim form and taken it to the PO, the guy was very nice and said that I should get a refund via cheque but it may take time. I am pretty relieved TBH! The certificate of posting shows the weight of the parcel so it's obvious that I didn't post an empty packet!!

Should I refund the buyer immediately or tell her that I will refund her when I hear from RM? I guess I'm going to have to refund her anyway, so was just wondering when to do so.

Anyway! Back to toiletries. I am so happy to be getting rid of some of my stash, and getting paid for it is even better. I am selling stuff pretty cheaply just to get rid, but maybe that's a good thing as it doesn't sit around forever that way!

I haven't used anything up, but have started on an ancient mini Sanctuary body lotion... used it on my whole body (inc. feet) last night, popped on some socks... and my feet were cold for ages!!! I think it was Bronnie who said that lotion makes your feet cold and that body butter is the way to go. It certainly will be for me from now on! No lotion is going near my tootsies till summer! :rotfl:

    Been bad today :(
Tesco were selling L'Oreal Vitalift Self-Heating cleansing wash for £1.74 (usually nearly £7) so I just HAD to get it. I offset it with the Dove deo coupon offer though, so came out with my facial wash and 2 deos for the grand sum of 95p! Not too bad, and if it's not for me I'll pass it on to my mum who says it's good.
    Anyone tried it?

Definately wait til they've paid you otherwise you could end up being out of pocket. Well done on getting it sorted out so quick...

Anyway, used up a S&G body butter, (missed you madly, god its delish), plus a mini sanctuary body lotion, one lipbalm and and a pack of face wipes. So that's another £4 to put into my pot.

I am really grateful for this thread. I had over an hour to kill at Manchester Piccadilly this afternoon, so I thought I'd have a little nosey round Bodyshop. There was loads of things that I thought "ooohh... that looks interesting..." but I was strong and walked straight back out of there. If it wasn't for this thread I would have undoubtedly bought something that I wouldn't use.

    So.... THANKS EVERYONE!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

I think everyone does it slightly different. Whatever is easier and works best for you... I personally just put a pound for any and every item I've used up, then I'll put it towards something nice when I've used stuff up, I don't put the full amount for each item in (eg, my S&G body butter I think is £8, but just put £1 in) Otherwise I'd have no money to live. But some people do, and I guess that way you get a real sense of how much you actually spend...
