Go to Trading Standards, they have the authority to check her qualifications and her indemity insurance. Also you might consider reporting them to the RSPCA*SIGH*0

What a terrible shame. Im sure one of my dogs was dropped or something when I took him to a grooming salon, when I got him home he was limping, holding his leg up - this is my disabled boy and I emphasised to them that they should be very careful. They were confident and recommended but I thought the girls expression when I picked him up seemed a bit odd. I carried him to the car, so didnt notice this til we got in. Also, he hadnt been hand stripped but clipped. Never again, I do him myself now.
Someone else I spoke to said they had taken their pup to a groomer and when she got him home he had burn marks on his stomach!!
Check your home insurance or contents insurance as you may find you have legal cover as an add on - you can also ring them for advice.0 -
I have read so many things like this and it makes me too scared to take our 5 month old Yorkie to the groomers. I would really hate it if anything happened to him.
Does anyone on here clip their own Yorkie (or similar)?
What sort of clippers do you use?0 -
OMG - definitely report this wherever you can, poor dog.
Once I took Zara to Pets at Home groomer and next day noticed blisters on her skin - she is long haired so did not see it at once.
Turned out those were from her burtn under a dryer (!!!!!)
My current gropomer works from home and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone, she is absolutely brilliant (she was recommended to me by someone and I recommended her to sevarl pople too - everyone is very happy with her).
If anyone needs a VERYU good groomer in East London, will be happy to pm the details.
Hope your dog feels better soon0 -
Is the vet sure this is clipper burn and not an allergic reaction to something? If she washed him too etc maybe this is a reaction to the shampoo etc?
I'll be the first to hold my hand up and say I've never used a groomer and the only contact I've had with them has been if they have had to help with rescue dogs with severely matted coats that have been beyond what can easily be clipped (ie knotted too close to the skin), but I HAVE used clippers on many a dog over the years - not for costmetic purposes I hasten to add! :rotfl: But for removing matter coats and then trying to even it out a little to stop them looking like they've been thrown through a combine harvester... and I've never seen clipper rash. I'd have thought some of those poor dogs would have had it given the skin problems and other issues they hadThat's why I'm asking if it could be something OTHER than "clipper rash". Treatment would probably be the same, but what if it's an allergy? The groomer couldn't know about that (nor could you) and the problem could be a lot more serious if you don't find the exact cause.
And I'd speak to the groomer before you go reporting her - you're about to try and ruin her career, livelyhood and get the RSPCA to investigate her... I'd at least give her the chance to defend herself...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

What a great idea. My groomer is fantastic and I have no worries about leaving my dog with her and he always comes home looking fantastic. it would be good to have a list of recommded groomers in our areas (maybe even post a few pics of before and afters)
Ah, i hope your dog is feeling better soon DX2. I know i wouldnt be happy if it happened to my baby either. If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they go. :A0 -
According to the SSPCA it's normal *rolleyes* I didn't realise putting a puppy in for a £25 trim and excess vet bills is normal but hey ho there we go.
Note to oneself get pet insurance especially if you have to pay in excess of £200 every time your puppy has to get a trim.*SIGH*0 -
What sort of pup do you have that needed to be clipped?
Id never use clippers on a pups coat - only an adult coat. Till then trimming with scissors should be enough0
