How to complain about a dog groomer?

Hope pup is feeling better
Even a lhasa, id not have clipped - not so young. Id have only trimmed with scissors. Even on the adult id only use scissors unless I didnt want the hassle of daily grooming ( which this breed needs) then I would consider clipping off.
As for choosing a groomer, its with everything - word of mouth recommendation . I could easily say I have 15 years grooming experience which wouldnt be a lie, but Id only be any good with cockers - wouldnt have a clue where to start with a lhasa.
As others have said I too dont think its clipper rash - sounds like an allergy
Anyways whatever, hope you get the resolution you are looking for
And do spend some time learning how to groom your pup yourself, its very rewarding for both of you0 -
Hi,
I have a lhasa and we regularly get her trimmed at the groomers. She first went at about 7 months I think for a trim, and I have her cut fairly short all over every few months. This way I find she doesn't get in knots, and a quick brush over keeps her looking nice. We have experimented with different 'styles' - my least favourite was when they gave her 'trousers'!! Personal taste i suppose, but we know what we like now. The groomer washes and trims her , and I think £25 every few (3 ish) months is money well spent to be honest. I wouldn't want to be tackling it myself! She does look gorgeous when her hair is longer, but I prefer the quick brush over method rather than spending ages brushing/detangling, so short hair it is!
We have never experienced any clipper burn? An allergic reaction does sound possible, but I'm no expert. I think having a word with your groomer first is the way to go - at least you can find out which products were used etc and more about exactly what was done. I understand your anger (I would be very angry ) but maybe giving chance for an explanation first may help?? Anyway whatever you decide,I hope your pup gets well soon! Lhasas are gorgeous are't they?? Very sensitive though - some thing is upsetting out girl but I haven't a clue what it is!!0 -
Why are so many people questioning whether it is an allergy and not clipper burn? A qualified veterinarian has seen the puppy, I'd like to think he can tell the difference between the two - speaking personally my allergies look nothing like any shaving rash I might get!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

that's shocking!
But you may find that if you go to the groomers in person to let them know (very calmly) whats happened that they are just as shocked and sorry.
It might be worth bringing it up with fellow dog owners when your out and about and see if they are able to recommend a groomer. Try asking your vet.
Please don't be put off by 1 bad experience. My sisters dog groomer is fab. When she 1st took her new pup to the groomer the groomer had made the appointment for after hours at no extra charge to make sure it was a calm, quiet 121 treatment so the dog had a great 1st experience.
There are some good ones!
vet them yourself explain your circumstances when you go to a groomer and see how reasuring etc that they are. Hope puppy feels better soon.0 -
I sent my 8 month old King Charles/Terrier cross to the groomers a couple of weeks ago as his hair was getting matted it was so long and he could see, he came back really quiet and just wanted to cuddle us, his hair was all choppy like they had hacked into it, the hair on one leg was longer than the other, one side of his face was longer than the other his skin was all flakey like dandruff and his skin had been nicked under each arm (the left one was particularly bad and took two weeks to heal). I didn't complain but wish I had, and won't be going back there again! I have since decided to teach myself and do it, I evened off all the odd bits on him with sissors and straightened the edges with the clippers (my husbands old beard trimmer ones as he's only a titchy dog) and it looked much better than the groomers! google and see the advice thats on offer, and have a go yourself because it's actually quite fun!
Hope the little 'uns not too traumatised, mine seems to have forgotten the whole ordeal and his skins a lot better now xBest Threads -

Can I just say that my staffie didnt need grooming apart from the occasional bath. but my springer spaniel did. I had her groomed from about a year old until she was four - then the groomer retired. I tried a few others - she came back looking odd! for some reason one groomer left all the fur on her ears and feet! another used scissors and you could see all the cuts! in the end me and oh learned to do it ourselves - using a remington hair clipper! but at least she looked nice and her ears didnt have extra flaps and her feet didnt look like she was wearing slippers! and apart from the initial £12.99 for the clippers - it didnt cost us anything but time. but to be honest - if we could have found a decent dog furdresser - we would have been happy to pay! we tried about six - three were total carp - one she came home with fleas and the other two were so mediocre - we decided we could do better ourselves!0

Is there any update?
Puppy is all well and doing fine, spoke to groomer about the situation she was very shocked! She was wonderful she phoned the manufacture to make sure they hadn't changed anything in the shampoo and she also phoned all her other clients that were done that week to make sure nobody else was having these problems.
She paid the vet bills without hesitation and she said when he comes again she would cut him rather than shave him.*SIGH*0 -
A young puppy has very sensitive skin. It could be the oil used on the clippers that has caused such a reaction.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
