How to complain about a dog groomer?

Need some advice if possible please.

On Wednesday I took my puppy to a dog groomer and since then my puppy has been in awful pain! Asked for a trim as his hair was long and going in his eyes, and for them to trim the hair around his paws.

When I took my puppy home they had shaved him underneath, which has resulted in clipper rash all over his scrotum called the vet advised to apply sudocreme. Friday evening my puppy has very sore red eyes, were swollen and he could hardly open them! Cause yes again clipper rash.

Took him to the emergency vet he had to get three injections, cream for the scrotum, dye in his eyes, bucket collar thingie and I have to go back next week to see the vet to make sure everything is coming along and healing fine. So far the cost is £200 I am bloody raging that a £25 trim has caused so much pain for my puppy.

This dog groomer claims to have City & Guilds Qualified professional cat & dog groomer with 20 years experience, to have 20 years experience how did she manage to do this to my puppy!
How do I go about making a complaint? Is there someone I can contact?

Get a report from the vet and send a recorded delivery letter to the groomer asking for a full refund of the cost of the trim and resultant veterinary treatment. If no result take the groomer to the small claims court. Do you have pet insurance? Do you have legal advice as part of your home insurance?

Thanks no pet insurance at the minute it isn't really the cost of the vet so to speak just the damage she has done.:( My poor baby.

Is your dog groomer a member of any professional organisation? If so you could complain to them.

Go to Trading Standards, they have the authority to check her qualifications and her indemity insurance. Also you might consider reporting them to the RSPCA
  • Have you spoken to the groomer about this at all?

aw this is awful! - get a report from your vet hun, then investigate whether the groomers have full insurance. unless it was done as an under the radar thing - ie they have premises and are not doing it on the qt - then I would take legal action. at the very least you could go through the small claims court to get back vet costs if it was proved they were at fault.
hope the poor thing gets better soon.
