OP you are firing from the hip here. Talk to the groomer first.

I would also suggest you learn to groom the dog yourself. A dog like that will be high maintenance and you should really be doing it yourself and maybe once or twice a year going to a groomer (but certainly not as a puppy). For another thing it will cost a fortune ...

Have you spoken to your breeder? Most breeders will be able to show you how to do it yourself at home:)

If I wish to get a professional to groom my dog at my expense then I will! However I will not accept the butchering that she did and as such I will be going through the small claims court to recoup for the damage that she did. More money eh.

You box on then. But as has been suggested a puppy really shouldn't be going to a groomer at such a young age.

But you know best so carry on!

    I will do!
You would think a "professional groomer" with 20 years experience would know this also *rolleyes*

I've never owned a dog that needed clipping, and wouldn't be keen on having to take it to a dog groomer all the time:oHaving said that the OPs dog has been in obvious discomfort requiring veterinary treatment, which hopefully the vet can verify by letter;)
Therefore if the dog groomer wont pay up, the OP is well within their right to take them to the small claims court:D
    Hope he's better soon x:A

  • If you have the type of dog that you know you will want to use a groomer for then the OP has been very sensible in taking it to a groomer while it is a puppy, to get it used to the experience.

In the original post she says she wanted the fur cut away from it's eyes and feet trimmed - the shaving of it's underside appears to be above and beyond what the groomer was paid to do. And a good groomer wouldn't have gone this far on a puppy - would have just done the bare essentials and made it a good experience for the puppy.

It is unfortunate for the OP that this groomer doesn't appear to have been a 'good' one!

Sometimes I use a groomer (who we have always been happy with) - sometimes I do it myself - I really don't see a problem with someone choosing to use a service that people train to do professionally rather than do it themselves.

I also think the small claims route is the best one for the OP - with a written report from the vet. Hopefully the groomer won't let it progress that far and will pay the vets bills that came about as a direct result of their actions.

Poor thing to the OP , However I do agree with others that state to get in contact with the groomer as they may not know { obviously when calmed down a bit } .

Ive worked in dog grooming salons when I was younger and luckily I never saw anything like this . However as stated early also your little baby may be allergic to some ingrieediants in the shampoo chemicals . And Flea treatment springs to mind !!??!! As I know alot of salons do use flea treatment in there shampoo / condition and sprays . And with the age of your dog only being a puppy this could VERY easily affect his skin and eyes :(

I really would advise to speak to your groomer first - They will probabl ybe very upset to hear what has happened , and may offer refund immediatetly anyway . And if not then seek professional help .

In the meantime this maybe a good site to look at , as it lists local groomers and has reviews also
