Thanks everyone for your replies. I was explaining my bathroom woes to my beauty therapist and she recommended a chap local to me. He came out last Thursday and quoted £130 which I'm very pleased with. I thought it would be abit cheeky to tell the plumber I only wanted his plumbing services but as it turns out he was quite happy and said using another tiler is fine with him. So a happy ending all round!

I am having new bathroom installed and have had a quote of £600 to tile it. it is a small bathroom, approx 10 sq metres for walls & 2 sq metres for floor. I think this is way too much - opinions ?
Thankyou0 -
when ur pricing a job u have lots of different things to consider its not all just price per sqm if the surface is uneven that will cost more... travel time to consider, type of tile, a natural stone job will be more due to extra time for sealing etc. they way in which the tiles are layed...if there is a border in the wall again more expensive...so u cant just say its (x) sqm how much will it cost! i wouldnt do a job for less than 150 regardless of size its just not worth it0

Can anyone tell me what is a reasonable daily rate for a joiner ( kitchen fitter), Corgi reg plumber, and fully qualified electrician in the Yorkshire area?0

Some people on here complaining that £100 a day for tiling and that Tiling is not a skilled job are pretty pathetic.
Tiling IS a very skilled job, you tell me the weight ration for various surfaces, what you need to do to tile a floor, how to install a wetroom.
My rate varies from £18 a sq metre to £40 not including materials, my day rate is £200 im very busy I have no complaints.

I had a quote for tiling 48 tiles, 4 rows of 12 tiles 6inch square with no cutting at all needed. They said it would take a day and it was £100 they were getting the white grout and adhesive I was getting the tiles. I thought it was extortionate price and will do it myself. Thats not a days work noit even half a day it will take about an hour if that. I think he was just trying to take me for a mug as I'm a woman on my own
i would do it for £50 £100 is a bit toooooo much0 -

I know this post is old, but instead of starting a new one up.......
We want our bathroom floor tiling. Currently it has lino tiles on a wooden floor and we have bought some ceramic tiles to lay. The total area is 1.3m2 (squared!) so tiny tiny area.
I'm being quoted upwards of £200!! I was expecting something up to £100 for such a small area.
Are my ideas unreasonable?
Thanks
