  • Hi Guys,

Ok I am now kicking myself repeatedly (very Hard) that i have fallin into the CAG trap! I have read the posts that you all have put on here about these guys and i am now worried & dont know what to do now.

I was sucked into the cold call from CAG and received a claim pack, filled in the pack & sent it off. a couple of weeks later (if that) i received a letter sayin they could not proceed any further as Black Horse told them to jog on basically. they asked for a copy of my agreement i took with the loan, so i sent a copy back to them. they then said that they will contact Black Horse again and sort something out. i then received another letter from CAG asking me to sign and return the further paper work.. i cant recall all that i Signed but i do remember there being a document to be signed for the Ombudsman Service so they could act on my behalf. just now its currently in the process i beleive with the Ombudsman Service?

I have been reading your posts with regards to Fee's Charges etc from CAG, and im kind of worried right now because i think i may have given them my bank details somewhere in the process :( im such a complete fool! but the constant phone calls and badgering from CAG i simpley did what was needed to make them go away as to speak. i have too much going on in my life to deal with these calls & letters etc, i was aware that these guys charge 39% inc Vat when i gave in to the cold call but what with all the hidden charges etc you guys have mentioned? is there hidden extra's or what? are they gonna take advantage of my bank account if they do have my account number etc and try to take out money when they feel like it before the case is won? because they waffled on about no win no fee thing etc can they do that? are they even allowed to do that? Jesus man! this is such a mess.

Im really unsure of what to do now & have extremely cold feet about all this. Im not sure if i can still pull out & cancel the whole thing at this stage or not? and if i did pull out of this would i incurr charges from CAG for pulling out? I see Martin On Daybreak one morning just as i was leaving for work sayin to get the PPI claims in now or it maybe too late to claim or it would be harder to claim if its left any longer. its been a while since i was on this site & because i didnt look into this whole PPI thing its my own fault.

the thing is i really cant remember what i have signed and i havent a copy of what i have signed with the CAG as they ask for the pack & documents back, "just sign here ..............." its easy" were look after you" (Ive totally been sucked in) :( I now feel CAG have full control over all of this and i fear i could be Stiffed by these criminals left, right & centre and have no rights to defend myself from these pushy people. what on earth should i do?

On another note its only today i looked at my Black Horse Agreement to find at the time of getting my loan not only did i get PPI (Gold) i also apparently got "GAP Insurance" too. what on earth is that..???

The biggest Mug of the Decade Goes to erm..... lets see........ ME!!!

The FOS wont overrule the courts. So, that should be an easy rejection for the FOS. (assuming its unenforceable credit that was being attempted as thats the only reason they would ask for the agreement - although your latter comments suggest it was a PPI complaint - that doesnt need a copy of the agreement).
i was aware that these guys charge 39% inc Vat when i gave in to the cold call but what with all the hidden charges etc you guys have mentioned? is there hidden extra's or what?

There is usually an up front payment and often they come back with other fees if you want to take the complaint to the "next stage".
are they gonna take advantage of my bank account if they do have my account number etc and try to take out money when they feel like it before the case is won?

Just because they have your account number, doesnt mean they can take money from it. Its the debit card details that allow them to do that.

GAP insurance covers the "gap" if you have a total loss with the car between what the replacement vehicle costs and what the insurance company pay out.

  • Hey all.

I've also been on the recieving end of rapid fire phone calls after having a pack sent to me, damn they really wanted me to sign those papers.... Now I understand why. Fact is I have signed, sent and they've recieved. To quote the text I got on reciept of my forms "You've made the right decision! We're the experts in helping customers claim back any mis-sold ppi....." (I sent pack on 17/12/2010, recieved text 21/12/2010) On the same day got another text... "A big thank you! We've recieved all your paperwork. Just relax and leave it to us now. If you need to speak to us call...." Thoughts going through my head, "these people are awsome and seem so grateful."

I'll get to my point but first say I appreciate the helpful posts from people on this site, most are wiser to this game than me. Anyways I only questioned CAGs intrest in my business since agreeing to let "no worries loans" sort me out. Seems when you start applying for bad credit loans word speads (or should i say data?) then the vultures home in. That mistake has been resolved but after realising there's a lot of chancer's out there, preying on niave people in a bad cash situation, this made me skeptical about CAG.

    Events so far ;

Sent pack which a Manc walked me through over the phone, basically signed all spots he said and sent in post on 17/12/2010.

Recieved the texts they'd recieved the papers on 21/12/2010.

Now that I know what I know I obviously want out but am guessing as I've signed I'm stuck with these charlatans.

If there's anyone kind enough to give me any advice on this I'd really appreciate it.

Merry Xmas all, I'm sure CAG's guna have the merriest of all the f%c^ers!

I think you'll have to go through your terms and conditions with a fine comb. I imagine some fee may be inevitable.

  • I had a call from these guys today. They caught me on the hop a bit and I think I told them a little too much information. Could anyone put my mind at rest?

Below is what I told them on the phone:

    1) Yes I've had a loan in the last 10 years.
    2) Yes, I think I paid PPI
    3) With Ford Finance
    4) £10,000 borrowed 5 years ago, repaid in full last month.
    5) My name, address, email, phone number etc
    6) I've been a self employed book-keeper for 5 years

After telling them all of the above they said they can reclaim the PPI which could be £1000's. I asked what their cost were & they confirmed 39% of anything reclaimed as stated in this thread.

They then spoke of the forms they could/would send me in the post. I can't remember whether I asked them to send them or if they just said they would but either way they are no doubt on there way to me now.

If I shred these forms when they arrive have I got anything to worry about? Did I tell then too much on the phone?

But I bet they didnt ask you anything about the actual sale of the policy did they?

It may be that the policy was sold 100% correctly but that wont stop them putting in a claim made up of templated allegations that actually are a pack of lies, which in any other scenario would be considered to be fraud.

Whether that bothers you or not is up to you, but it certainly wont bother them and therefore speaks volumes about the type of company they are.

None of those things are grounds for complaint. So, what reasons did you discuss that indicated a mis-sale?

plus VAT. Don't forget that 20% to be added as what they do is VAT chargeable.

  • No they didn't ask anything about the sale of the policy.

They said they couldn't or shouldn't have offered me PPI because I'm self employed. Probably rubbish?

Anyway, I've got no intention of going ahead with this so as long as I don't sign and send back the forms they can't persue it can they?

    No they cant.

They'll probably give you a couple of phone calls in a hurt tone of voice asking you where your completed and signed pack is, but fear not because without it they have no grounds to continue. Just don't let them persuade you otherwise.

I never sent my pack back, and told them I didn't want to continue, they tried to persuade me otherwise but I said no. With that they're supposed to delete your information from their system, though they probably won't, at least at first, because I got a second "where is your signed pack?" call a few weeks after I'd told them no.

However, it's worth looking into if you actually were mis-sold, but take up the complaint yourself without the aid of any claims company, simply use the info on this site. If the bank say no, take it to the ombudsman. (which is basically what CAG do, and charge you 39% for). Just beware that it will take bloody ages though, because ombudsman have a backlog of millions to get through.

  • Look about as they charge 39%, there are CMC's that charge 20% if you don't feel confident enough to deal with that case yourself.
Have a look here though as there are some great advice given to consumers.
