Claims Advisory Group

I suggest a formal complaint against Claims Advisory Group that the nature of its repeated calls amounted to pressurised selling and was therefore a breach of Client Specific Rule 3 of the Conduct of Authorised Persons Rules 2007, issued by its regulator, the Ministry of Justice.
Make clear too that the advice failed to make clear that the bank had an official complaints procedure available and that the Financial Ombudsman Service was available, in breach of Client Specific Rule 1e.
They also failed to ensure that the client had no alternative mechanism to pursue the claim, in breach of Client Specific Rule 10.
Make clear that, had CAG complied with the rules of its regulator then the contract would never have been entered into.0 -
Thank you so much Magpie.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
So glad I found these posts. My husband received a phone call from CAG which left him with the impression that CAG thought he had been mis-sold PPI. My husband was unaware that he had been sold PPI but believed CAG & allowed them to send him their forms.
Fortunately, I read the "small print" before he signed the forms and discovered that CAG had the right to charge a fee for their services, if a client acted in a way that caused the claim to be rejected.
As my husband could not remember being sold PPI, I suggested that he e-mail CAG querying what would happen, if he inadvertantly supplied incorrect information.
Now all the phone-calls chasing up the paperwork have stopped and he has had no reply to his e-mail. We are highly suspicious that if he had returned the forms, CAG would have hit him with a bill for their services, regardless of whether they won compensation or not.0 -
I've just had a call from these people, and what I found odd was that the number was 020, and the company website claims to be in Manchester.
Apparently they're going to claim against some vehicle finance I had in 2006.
I'm guessing from the theme of this thread I should take it with a pinch of salt?0 -
A barge pole with a forcefield on the end of it would be a better way.0

Hi Ladies and Gents,
My hubby had a call from the above company and after dismissing soooo many other calls, decided to go ahead (we had tried ourselves but didn't get very far - we had no paperwork of any sort, loan is 15yr old)
So he took the call, got the forms, filled out what he could and posted off......3 weeks later we have a letter to say £10,000 is ours!! ...... However they then call us as they are due 39%, still leaves us £6000-ish, big bonus!
The letter also states about Legal Ombudsman if you are not happy. We agree they deserve something as they did do 'some' work for us, but 39%!! Can anyone offer us advice on whether there is a chance of us going to the Ombudsman and getting it lower...?
Thanks in advance for any help.

What a shame you didnt contact the lender directly. £3900 lost.We agree they deserve something as they did do 'some' work for us, but 39%!!
All they did was put a stamp on the envelope containing your PPI complaint form and sent it to the free of charge complaints address for the bank. The same address and process you would have used if you did it yourself. About 10 minutes work for them and the cost of an envelope and stamp.an anyone offer us advice on whether there is a chance of us going to the Ombudsman and getting it lower...?
No. You agreed the charge.
In future you need to take more care and not enter into contracts willy nilly. Mis-sold PPI. Paid £3900 for a free of charge service. Whats next?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Sorry, but I can't be of any and I doubt anyone else on this site is going to be either.
39% is indeed steep, but if you agree to it and sign a contract to that effect then there is no point trying to get out of it after the fact. They've done what they agreed. You need to do what you agreed. The alternative is court action, which they are likely to take for such a substantial sum of money.0
