Claims Advisory Group

Has anyone heard of this company? I got a cold call from them and they said they can get my PPI back from The Co-operative Bank. However, I feel a bit unsure as they seem too keen. They keep phoning to check I have got the claim package. I have to sign it immediately and post it back to them - they put a first class stamp on an addressed envelope and I have to call them when I get it, and again when I post it and the number of the post box I put it in - all this seems a bit excessive to me. I haven't signed anything yet and have done a search on Bing and can't find anything about them and feel a bit concerned - any advice?

    Hi there

Your right in being wary, especially as they do tend to charge in one way or another, where as you know by doing this yourself with help from this site if required is all free apart from the posting of the letters.

To check them out I think you could contact the Ministry of justice (MOJ here:
    http://www.justice.gov.uk/contactus.htm

I do not know of them, others may but again if you need any help with any reclaiming, give us a yell, good luck.;)

  • I had the exact same phone call from them. And they went through painfully long winded attempts to convince me that the ppi sold to me with my first direct loans were mis-sold.

If I'm honest, partly due to a short attention span and partly to a poor short term memory most of what they said went straight over my head. It usually does in such phone calls, it just too much info to take in and retain in my head.

But they seemed desperate to convince me that I have been mis-sold, but I didn't really understand how. I was fully aware that I was buying ppi when I took out my loans and to be brutally honest I agreed to it, I appreciate that I was not force sold, I could have refused. So acknowledging that, I felt that I had been sold ppi fairly.

Still... at 38%+ commission claims advisory group were't going to give up that easily from wrangling some money from me. Eventually I asked a question, "is it illegal to charge interest on the ppi insurance?" I was categorically told that it is.

However with a little more investigation, I do not believe that it is. For example the cost of a single premium ppi, is simply added on to the loan, so in effect you're just taking out a slightly larger loan and of course you'd be paying the interest on the monthly repayments.

So...for that reason, I feel I have been misled by CAG at best and at the worst lied to.

There is a small chance that I may have indeed been mis-sold the ppi. I work for the NHS, so naturally I'm already covered by sick/redundancy pay etc... so I didn't actually need the ppi in the first place!

I do not remember the loan salesperson telling me that I didn't need ppi (naturally they were keen to sell it), but I'm pretty sure they asked me about my job. Well they'd have to! To make sure you can afford to repay the loan.

So.. I decided to see where a complaint/claim will get me. But without the assistance of CAG.

    Your feeling is correct.

They are eager for you to pay them up front fees, once you have done that they will probably ignore you/fob you off and do nothing.

When you lose patience and ask them what the hell is going on, they may either continue to ignore you/fob you off or instead claim that you have to pay more 'fees' (often a lot larger than the initial one) for them to progress. If you do, you will go back to them ignoring you and rinse and repeat.

I would suggest that no-one uses any company that requires up front fees.

If you want to claim, have a go yourself, as Di says there is help available on here.
  • Just received another phone call from them now... asking if I'd returned the claims package.

Nope... and I'm not going to either, thanks bye.
