Ford Focus, why are they so popular?

Highly unlikely, it will probably be beaten out / filled.

Look closely at the edges of the panel for hard masking lines and look in bonnet/door shuts for overspray which is a dead give away.

It may look ok to you to start with but if/when you come to sell it the buyer/garage is likely to spot any repair work and try and knock something off the price (I know I would:D).
I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling ;)

:rotfl:I really dislike low sports type cars, I feel like my bum is scraping the floor:eek:

It will be delivered to my work & I'm pretty hopeless that that sort of thing. Won't they just change the panel & respray the panel they've changed?

Should have mentioned, stand well back and look at the colour match, get someone else to look with you.

Also don't assume that the bodyshop only painted the panel they repaired, if I were repairing a wing my paint sprayer would probably paint the door and bonnet as well so check these as well.

If you hate low sports cars then you would hate my sprite (like the one below). It has the headlight dipswitch on the floor, indicator switch on the dash and doesnt even have a radio:rotfl:great fun though!1959%20Austin%20Healey%20Frogeye%20Sprite.JPG

The pictures not mine but I have used Paul Ridley classic vehicle transportation in the past and he's brilliant!

Never owned a better car, personally. I do think the base models leave a little to be desired, but my 1.8 TDCi Ghia is my pride and joy.

MrsE - I don't get what oyu are saying about the full beam/ dipping thing.

To memory, the controls were exactly the same as where they are on my Seat and my Audi.

Lights on with the knob on the right of the dash. Full beam etc with the right stick on the steering wheel. What is different/difficult on the model you've got?

Knob on right, but stick is on left.

& its some funny double flick, I'm getting better at it now, but the first night I drove it home I had to hold the stick towards me to get full beam & just let it go to change gear.
Its just a bit fiddly if you're not used to it.

They don't tip over, but they are more top heavy and going round a hard corner at 30mph in a Vitara I suspect is much less a good experience than the same corner in a Focus at 40mph.

DH doesn't like the cornering now you mention it. If I go round it at what I class as normal speed, he grabs the grab handle & looks nervous, I think its just a bit different with the different height & all, but you get used to it.

My little dent in my car is being repaired.
The insurers put me in the 2 lt - 2.5 lt group, Mondeo to Medcedes.
Not wanting a long car I asked to be down graded, so I got a Focus.

    I hate it:mad::mad::mad:

Tiny wing mirrors, cheap nasty steering wheel, no cd/radio controls on the steering wheel, horrible seats.

    Why are they so popular:p

Because some of us who drive them don't need bigger cars, and are prepared to buy better equipment levels than the absolute entry level model focus you clearly have from your comments.

My focus has none of the issues you describe. Is it the best car on the road? No. Is it all the car I need? Is it reliable? Did it drive well during the snow recently while people in fancier cars went off the road in front of me due to a combination of their crap driving and poor grip? Yes, Yes and oh god Yes. And it's had virtually no faults either - just the usual things that need changing once they reach a certain age/mileage.

I wasn't too sure about the focus when I went shopping for a car and ended up taking the one I have now because I needed a car and everything else I saw was much worse. Now I've had the car for a while, I can safely say that the next car I get will probably be another focus.

I'm not keen on cars like the Vitara you have, as it happens. It's all personal taste isn't it? Though the cars I saw go off the road in front of me in the snow were a Vitara and 2 BMWs for whatever that's worth. The BMWs were funny anyway; all that money for a car that drives in bad weather with all the balance and grip of an old roller-skate with 2 missing wheels!

Anyone remember the press adverts from one of the previous generation BMWs when they proclaimed how good their traction control systems were in the snow? Look at any RWD Beemer and they are horrific in even light snow. A triumph of crack-addicted marketing over substance.

I did toy with the idea of buying a 5 door Focus ST - practicality and performance. I think Focuses are nice and common and perfect understated cars for ghosting around in.

    I guess it is:p

I wrote that after I still had the hump with it because I couldn't work the lights easily for my drive home:mad:, still haven't sorted the seat & seat belt out:eek:
